While the game didn’t end up going the Toffees’ way, it gave those in attendance their first real experience of Everton’s new stadium.

Speaking about the Toffees’ move away from Goodison Park, Deeney has shared his thoughts on what he thinks their fans need to do as soon as the 2025/26 season kicks off.

Everton need to settle into the Bramley Moore Dock Stadium as soon as possible

One of the only good things to come from the Farhad Moshiri era at Everton was the fact that he managed to deliver on his promise of making a new stadium for the Merseyside outfit.

While things have started to turn around since David Moyes’ return, even when they manage to survive this season, they still have to get over the hump of the new stadium jitters that each team who moves seems to go through.

And, speaking live on talkSPORT (18 February, 06:54am), Deeney and Stelling shared their thoughts on what Everton’s fanbase needs to do for their team next season.

“They’ve got to win games there [at Bramley Moore Dock] and one of the big things at Goodison, as we all know is that it’s an old-fashioned ground, brilliant atmosphere and the fans, they may not be worth a goal but when you need them, they’re right there for you,” Stelling said.

Deeney then replied: “Absolutely, we’ve seen everyone struggle who’s moved, nobody has moved into a new stadium and it’s been seamless.

“Even when Arsenal moved to the Emirates, it was still a bit of a filling-out process but when you go to Goodison, it’s fantastic.

“I was there a few weeks ago when they faced Leicester, it was bouncing an hour before, it’s on the Everton fanbase now to keep that historic level of energy up as well.”

David Moyes needs to keep Everton’s morale up

The return of Moyes is arguably one of the best moves that any Premier League team have made this season.

While many fans and pundits believed that Sean Dyche should have been kept in charge until the end of the season, The Friedkin Group’s choice to re-hire the Scotsman could have saved them already.

When the former Burnley boss was in charge, it felt like the Toffees were on a one-way road towards Premier League relegation but now, they’re 13 points clear of the drop zone and ahead of teams such as Manchester United and Tottenham.

The Toffees have a fair few difficult games coming up over the next few weeks but as long as Moyes can get Beto to keep firing and his defensive line to stay solid, it feels like Everton should be more than safe by the end of the term.

Which, in reality, is the best outcome that fans could have asked for, especially after the start of the 2024/25 season that they underwent.

And, as they gear up to play their first game at the new stadium next season, it doesn’t feel like there would be a much better way for them to enter the ground other than having survived the drop once again.
