A new striker is a high priority for Newcastle United this summer regardless of whether or not they keep hold of Callum Wilson. I’m sure I wrote this exact same introduction last year, too.
Callum Wilson is one of the Premier League’s most prolific marksmen, but his recent availability, or indeed, lack thereof, is a huge cause for concern, and as such Newcastle can’t rely on him to be backup for Alexander Isak for another season.
Newcastle do have Will Osula in their ranks now, and we expect and hope that he will play a more prominent role next season, but regardless of what happens with Osula and Wilson, we do hope that Newcastle dip into the market to bring in another top-quality striker.
Jonathan David remains my personal choice, but I’m fully aware of how difficult that will be to get done.
Tammy Abraham is eyeing a return to the Premier League
Several options have been named over past 12 months, one of which is former Chelsea forward Tammy Abraham who is now playing for AC Milan on loan from Roma.
It’s unlikely that Milan will make Abraham’s move a permanent one in the summer and it’s widely reported that Abraham wants a return to the Premier League with a view to impressing Thomas Tuchel and getting himself back into the England team.
Abraham has 11 England caps, but his last appearance for The Three Lions was in September 2022.
