A dramatic ending saw Everton’s penalty decision from Andy Madley overturned after a VAR review.
It was judged Ashley Young had thrown himself to the ground after a tug on the shirt by Matthijs de Ligt.
Speaking on Sky Sports, former referee Mike Dean admitted the decision not to award the penalty was the correct call.
“It should not be overturned – he has made a meal of it, he has chucked himself to the floor, though…” said Dean.
Everton fans will have been concerned by the referee appointment ahead of the game with MAtt Donohue on VAR.
And the fans will have been left incredibly disappointed by the final 20 minutes which saw United really pressure the Toffees who had looked comfortable for most of the game.

Everton dominated Manchester United for 70 minutes
Moyes will be furious with the way his side managed those final 20 minutes as United sought an equaliser.
Even Rio Ferdinand had to eat his own words with United completely turning the game on its head.
Everton had the points all but wrapped up at half-time, but they were simply unable to kill the game off and allowed too many free-kicks in the second 45.
The Toffees may keep this unbeaten run ongoing, but that was a seriously frustrating ending to the game.
