West Ham battle Everton and Leeds United for Celtic ace
West Ham have reportedly entered the battle to sign Celtic playmaker Nicolas Kuhn in the summer transfer window. The Hammers are in the market to sign the right-sided winger to add further goals to their frontline after finding the net on just 30 occasions this season – making them the fourth lowest scorers in the division alongside Manchester United, with only Everton, Southampton, Leicester and Ipswich finding the net on fewer occasions.
Kuhn, who scored against Bayern Munich in front of Germany head coach Julien Nagelsmann, has been in tremendous form for the Hoops this season, and has proven he can thrive against Europe’s elite teams.
The 25-year-old is renowned for his excellent dribbling ability, electric pace and composure in front of goal. He is a top target for Graham Potter, who faces strong competition from former boss David Moyes at Everton, Championship promotion hopefuls Leeds United and London rivals Crystal Palace, according to The Boot Room.
Newcastle United, following the sale of Miguel Almiron to Atlanta United, have also been credited with interest in the winger as they aim to bolster their squad depth if they are to qualify for some form of European football.
What Kuhn could bring to West Ham
West Ham are desperate to improve their attacking options as they aim to once again establish themselves as European contenders under Graham Potter.
Nicolas Kuhn has an overall record of 18 goals and 12 assists in 38 appearances across all competitions and has been a vital part of Celtic’s most successful European campaign in recent years by scoring three times and assisting once in 10 appearances against Europe’s elite.
Kuhn arrived at Celtic 18 months ago from Rapid Vienna in a deal which cost the club just £3m. After an initial bedding in period, the youngster, who has already won the Scottish Premiership, League Cup and Scottish Cup has established himself as one of the club’s most important players.
He is on course for a domestic treble this season and has been attracting plenty of praise from pundits in Scotland, with ex-Leyton Orient and Hibs man Marvin Bartley said earlier this term, via ClydeBankScoreboard: “He’s been brilliant, he really has. I think we spoke about it last week on the show, you speak about not writing players off too early because many Celtic fans last season did. But this season, he’s really taken a game by the scruff of the neck on so many occasions whether he starts or comes on as a sub. He’s been absolutely brilliant, breathtaking for them if I’m honest.”
