As the speculation continues to run rife over a possible return to England for Harry Kane, Alan Shearer has explained why he does not want to see the former Tottenham man finish his career back in the Premier League.
While the England captain continues to break all sorts of goalscoring records at Bayern Munich, there have been non-stop rumours over his future since it was leaked that Kane’s contract at Bayern has an exit clause of £54m this summer.
Reports over the recent weeks have claimed that Tottenham have not ruled out the possibility of making a shock move to bring Harry Kane back to N17.
In fact, Tottenham have a first refusal on Kane, which was agreed upon when a deal was struck in 2023 between the North London club and Bayern Munich.

Another day, another injury setback. This time, Pape Sarr has been forced to leave training early after picking up an unknown knock. Sigh. I would say that it seems hard to believe we are back with yet another injury report. However, it’s really not that hard to believe anymore, is it? The Tottenham medical team, if they aren’t overworked enough already, will soon welcome another player to the treatment table. Unfortunately, that treatment table might not have enough capacity for many more players at this point in time. You name a Tottenham key player, they’re probably injured. If they aren’t injured right now, they would have spent some time this season recovering from an injury. That’s how bad the situation is and it’s not getting any easier. Tottenham suffer yet another injury blow as midfielder leaves training early According to Tottenham insider Paul O Keefe on X (formerly Twitter), Pape Sarr had to exit training prematurely due to an unknown injury knock. In his own words, O Keefe said: “When it rains and all that. Pape Sarr had to pull out of training today. Unsure of the extent of issue. Ange speaking later.” This season, Sarr has played in every Premier League game for Tottenham. He has started just 14 of those but he’s come off the bench in the other eight matches. Sarr is a great player and he’s been a tremendous asset to Tottenham since joining. However, he’ll be the first to admit he isn’t quite at the level of playing *every* league game. This, if anything, only goes to show how important he has been to help navigate the injury crisis. That said, if this injury is anything serious, then Sarr’s Premier League streak might come to an end. After all, Spurs host Leicester on Sunday, after facing Hoffenheim away from home tomorrow evening. With this knock, I wouldn’t count on Sarr playing in the Europa League match. After all, this is less important to Ange Postecoglou anyway, given Spurs’ position in the Premier League. If he is carrying a knock, it is not worth risking him in midweek. Hopefully, Sarr is able to return in time to face Leicester. Otherwise, there’s no telling what the midfield will look like. At this stage, fans cannot even remember which players are injured and which are available. They have all just merged into one.

Alan Shearer makes honest admission about Kane
Spurs fans may be dreaming of seeing their record goal scorer back in a Tottenham shirt one day, although such a move appears unlikely for the time being.
However, Shearer confesses that he would love to see Kane ending his career in the Bundesliga as his Premier League goal record is in real danger if the 31-year-old returns to England.
When asked if he would like to see Kane return to England one day, the Newcastle legend told Optus Sport: “I was the one that was pushing him, telling him to go aboard – there’s no way that I’m going to invite him back because he’s a fantastic player and if he chooses to come back then there’s no doubt he’ll have a really good chance of breaking that record.
“So yeah, whenever I see him I’m like ‘yeah you stay in Germany mate, you’re smashing it over there scoring loads of goals, there’s no point in you coming back to the Premier League just yet’.”
Harry Kane will not be returning to Tottenham this summer
Whether or not a return to Tottenham Hotspur is on the cards for Harry Kane in the future, it is clear that he is not going to be on the move this summer.
Reports from Germany indicate Bayern are relaxed about Kane’s release clause as they do not expect the striker to push for a move this summer.
Last week, Kane himself admitted that he is extremely happy at Bayern and expressed his desire to compete for and win the biggest trophies over the coming years.
