Gary Lineker and Alan Shearer drop verdict on Everton’s new Bramley-Moore Dock stadium and make Goodison Park claim

Everton fans are now just months away from being able to step foot inside the club’s new stadium at Bramley-Moore Dock.
Some have already done so, with the first test event being held last week which saw the Everton U18s take on Wigan Athletic.

For the first time, supporters got to see the ins and outs of the new ground, and plenty feel that it is extremely impressive.
And for those who didn’t go, another test event at Bramley-Moore Dock is set to be held for an U21s match in March or April.
For many the move is bittersweet, with Goodison Park one the most iconic grounds in English football.
So many memories have been created, and many will be sad to move to a new home.
But Bramley-Moore Dock is a chance to create new history and new memories, and hopefully, Everton can turn it into a real fortress.
Earlier today, Gary Lineker and Alan Shearer gave their thoughts about Everton’s new ground following its unveiling last week.

Lineker and Shearer had initially been talking on the Rest Is Football podcast about Everton’s 2-2 draw with Manchester United on Saturday.
It was a game that finished in controversial fashion, after Everton were denied a penalty. Referee Andy Madley did blow up for a foul on Ashley Young at first, but VAR then sent him to the screen and he changed his mind.
Shearer branded the VAR decision against Everton ‘mind-boggling’, as he lamented the angles that were shown to Madley.
It was certainly frustrating, but thankfully it shouldn’t cost Everton too dearly.
Shearer and Lineker then spoke about Everton under Moyes and how rosy things are looking just at the moment – with the pair commenting on the new stadium.
Lineker said: “Looks beautiful, doesn’t it?
Shearer: “Impressive eh? Looks gorgeous, looks amazing! I bet the Everton fans can’t wait to get in there next season.”
The pair then spoke about Goodison Park. Both are in agreement that it is iconic, but that fans won’t mind moving out too much due to it showing signs of its age.
Shearer said: “I had good and bad memories at Goodison – that tight tunnel, great old ground, but it is old. I think the reason why you’ve not heard many say they didn’t want to leave is one, because how old that stadium is and two how spectacular the new one is going to be.”
Lineker: “I loved playing there, I must say. It was only one season at Everton, but it was like the fans sucked the ball into the net.”
New Everton stadium at Bramley-Moore Dock now officially on the map
The club have today confirmed (Everton’s official website) that the new stadium has been placed on the map by surveyors from Ordnance Survey (OS).
The club have said that the ‘crucial final elements were added to the OS surveying kit as the stadium’s name was finally added to the nation’s OS digital maps’ this morning during a segment on BBC Breakfast TV.
Head of Production at OS Paul Cruddace said: “Everton Football Club has a rich history and continues to make a huge contribution to the nation’s passion for football, so it’s a great honour to put the new stadium on the map for the club, its fans and the city of Liverpool.”
The new stadium will appear in the next edition of paper maps.
