Newcastle United sent a message to their Premier League rivals on Sunday (23 February) after a statement win against Nottingham Forest.

The Magpies had to dig deep at St James’s Park to come out on top of the seven-goal thriller, initially coming back from a goal down to win the game 4-3.

Four games in the space of 11 minutes in the first half blew Forest away, with goals from Lewis Miley, Jacob Murphy, and a brace from Alexander Isak proving to be enough.

Forest pushed back in the second half but ultimately came up short as the Magpies pushed one step closer to securing Champions League football.

Newcastle now sit in fifth place on the same number of points as Man City above them in the Premier League table, and just three points behind Forest in third.

The result saw Newcastle bounce back from their humilation at the hands of City last weekend where they were hammered 4-0.
