Alan Shearer says David Moyes isn’t ‘naive enough’ to say no to one signing at Everton

Despite re-joining Everton when they were languishing in 16th place in the Premier League under Sean Dyche, David Moyes has managed to effortlessly slot back into the job that defines his career.
Moyes’ Toffees side are one of the form teams in the Premier League — having won five as well as drawing and lose just one game piece in his seven matches in charge.
As things stand, Everton are 14th in the league and have managed to completely avoid being dragged into a relegation dogfight — which was the case under Sean Dyche.

David Moyes has proven once again that despite the decades he has spent as a manager, his ideas still remain relevant in today’s day and age.
As Moyes makes West Ham United’s decision to part ways with him look like a potential blunder, he looks the perfect man to guide Everton to new heights like he did during his first spell at the helm.
But the Scotsman will be aware that the Merseyside-based club will only progress if they make much-needed additions in the summer.

Alan Shearer says David Moyes would want a new striker at Everton
David Moyes will be closely analysing his Everton squad months ahead of the summer transfer window to determine which one of them should be kept, the names they must be sold and the others that need upgrading upon.
The Europa Conference League winner would be best-placed to initiate such a process as well because a failure to have such plans in place could impact his side’s summer transfer activity.
Alan Shearer chimed in by having his say on where Everton need to strengthen.
In Shearer’s view, they need a new striker to the extent that even David Moyes would be convinced that such is the case — despite Beto’s impressive form recently.
Shearer said on The Rest Is Football podcast: “I guess still, a striker will be a huge priority for him in the summer. He’s not naive enough or daft enough to know that he can’t go into next season without investing in a striker.”
“But I think what he’s done is, the whole atmosphere of the football club, from the players to the fans, and the atmosphere within the stadium has just gone from everyone was sort of doom and gloom.”
Why Everton did not sign a new striker in the transfer window
Surprisingly, Everton did not bring in a fresh face to add depth to their centre-forward department.
The club would be grateful that despite being the case, David Moyes has managed to do a terrific job.
But journalist Alan Myers revealed on deadline day that the reason why that was the case is because no player on the market convinced Everton to pull the trigger and make a move for them.

For the time being, Beto looks like the answer, having scored against Manchester United in their latest 2-2 draw as well.
But in the summer, perhaps David Moyes could take Alan Shearer’s word of advi
ce and consult Everton to look at potential incomings.
