Newcastle United will welcome Joe Willock back for the home game with Crystal Palace tomorrow night – and stand-in boss Jason Tindall has offered a fitness update on Sven Botman.
Willock suffered a blow to the head in the 2-1 win over Brentford and missed the games at Leicester City and at home to Man United due to concussion protocols. Tindall was happy to welcome the ex-Arsenal man back to training and the midfielder is in contention for the Palace game.
Tindall, speaking at his Press conference today, said: “Yeah, he’s now exited the concussion protocols, so he’s available now to be involved in in the squad for tomorrow night.”

With Anthony Gordon also getting through the 4-1 win over the Red Devils unscathed, Newcastle are getting close to full strength again. Tindall said: “Yeah, everybody’s come away from the game fine. It was good to get Anthony Gordon some minutes on the pitch, great to have him back with the qualities that he’s got.
“Joe Willock’s now back from the concussion protocols, so the squad’s in good shape. Thankfully we didn’t pick up any injuries from the weekend, so we go into the Crystal Palace game full of health up to this moment, obviously.”
The eagerly anticipated return for ex-Ajax and Lille star Botman is also a big talking point in the fanbase. Botman has recovered from long-term knee injury but then went back under the knife in late winter.

Tindall said: “We’re really pleased with Sven, he’s back on the grass and ahead of schedule. Hopefully, we’ll see him really soon.”
The defender was expected to be out for eight weeks after going under the knife. Botman last featured for United on January 18. He could return in May for the final three or four games of the campaign.
