Known as the ‘12th man’, football fan culture is a key aspect of the beautiful game – and those in attendance can often be the difference between victory and defeat. The bellowing shouts of encouragement, amid the on-pitch chaos, can often give teams that extra boost needed to win.

Securing tickets for a Premier League game can be almost impossible sometimes and those who manage to go on a weekly basis are a) extremely lucky to see their team in the flesh on a regular basis and b) the backbone of every football club.

With that in mind, which club venue has been the fullest since the 2024/25 Premier League season got underway? Taking into account the size of all 20 grounds and how many, on average, they have seen come through the gates on home matchdays, here is the data for how full each top-flight stadium has been this term.

Fulham, Southampton, Chelsea, Wolverhampton Wanderers, Tottenham Hotspur

Kicking off proceedings is Marco Silva-led Fulham. Transfermarkt have revealed that their stadium has been 89.7% full this season, having seen 26,550 of their 29,589 seats filled.

Next up is relegation-doomed Southampton and their stomping ground, St. Mary’s Stadium. Purely based on the numbers, they have the second-worst percentage of match-goers, which is 96.0% – 31,098 of their 32,284-seater on the south coast.

By virtue of their brilliant start to Enzo Maresca’s inaugural season at the west London helm, Chelsea experienced a slight uptick in terms of attendance at Stamford Bridge as the Italian steadied the ship, but that soon went down the drain. Now sitting at 96.2% as Cole Palmer and his teammates struggle to pull up trees, only 40,059 of their 41,631 seats are sat on.

Fans have ranked each Premier League stadium based on atmosphere, with a newly promoted team being voted as the worst.

They are joined near the bottom of the rankings by relegation-threatened Wolverhampton Wanderers. Having sacked Gary O’Neil and replaced him with Vitor Pereira, there is, slowly but surely, a feel-good factor returning to Molineux, which has been filled to just 96.3% of its capacity thus far in 2024/25. That figure is slightly bettered by that of Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham Hotspur, who have struggled to pull up trees in the Greek-Australian’s second season in charge.

Albeit ranked as one of the best stadiums in world football at the time of writing, Ange Postecoglou and co have endured their fair share of struggles with filling the state-of-the-art stadium, which holds 62,850 fans, as evidenced by the numbers. Considering the swarming size of the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, having an average of 61,302 (97.5%) attendees per home game is still mightily impressive.

Aston Villa, Leicester City, Manchester City, Manchester United, Liverpool

Aston Villa’s iconic stadium, Villa Park, is typically a constant sellout and, with 42,918 home tickets to sell on match days, the supporters are sure to turn up in their numbers, with not a spare seat in the house. The rise in ticket prices, however, has statistically made a dent in those attendance numbers.

Leicester City, in Ruud van Nistelrooy’s bid to stay afloat, have seen a plethora of fans tip up on match days until recently. From 1.4% of the King Power Stadium, which boasts a capacity of 32,273, being without a fan when welcoming a fellow top-tier side this term, their attendance numbers have dropped significantly to 97.8%.

And for all the public noise about Manchester City and their perceived lack of atmosphere due to the lack of attendees, the data suggests differently. Of all 55,097 tickets they have on offer for home matches, Transfermarkt’s data has suggested they have a 98.2 % attendance rate.

The post-Sir Alex Ferguson era has been nothing short of gloomy for fans of Manchester United and year by year, the feeling among the faithful gets even more dreary. The Theatre of Dreams could receive a massive lift though, should Ruben Amorim act on his promise following the summer transfer window. At the time of writing, an average number of 73,820 fans go through the gates on matchdays.

A grand total of 60,472 (98.7%) have turned up to watch Arne Slot’s table-topping Reds in action since the Dutchman’s arrival. The feel-good factor is back and roaring at Anfield, one of the most atmospheric grounds in the English top division, this season – so expect that number to hit a stratospheric rise if they maintain their position at the top of the standings between now and May.

Crystal Palace, Brighton & Hove Albion, Brentford, Nottingham Forest, Bournemouth

At the beginning of the 2024/25 campaign, Crystal Palace’s Steve Parish was – in theory, at least – winning the battle for the least popular owner based on their fans’ participation on matchdays, but amid an upturn in form, the Eagles now sit on a 98.8% attendance.

Brighton & Hove Albion sharply follow, with the Amex Stadium a source for feel-good football under several different regimes in recent times. Nowadays, it’s Fabian Hurzeler who gets the crowd rocking, with the Premier League’s youngest manager attracting just south of 99% of the stadium’s capacity.

Thomas Frank’s Brentford may have one of the smallest Premier League stadiums, but that doesn’t help in the rankings – with them residing 8th in this list, with 99.0% of the Gtech Community Stadium full when hosting a Premier League match this term.

Adrian Durham’s own ranking demands curiosity, as only four Premier League grounds made the cut.

Meanwhile, Nottingham Forest’s City Ground Stadium, amid one of the club’s best seasons in their long and storied history, enjoys a 99.0% fill rate – and that’s only expected to continue to rise if they keep up their pursuit of top four credentials until May.

Elsewhere, what works in Bournemouth’s favour is the diminutive size of their stadium. The Vitality Stadium only holds 11,307 match-goers, which, in turn, should make it simpler to fill. That said, the Cherries still rank in 6th with a percentage of 99.0%.

Ipswich Town, Arsenal, Everton, West Ham United, Newcastle United

Ipswich Town supporters, despite being new to the trials and tribulations of England’s top flight, have backed the Tractor Boys in their pursuit of survival by turning up in droves so far. An average of 29,774 (99.1%) fans fill up Portland Road during home fixtures when factoring in safe-standing areas.

Arsenal’s Emirates Stadium is one of the best grounds in the English top flight but that doesn’t necessarily translate into high percentages of selling tickets and seeing fans flood the concourse pre-match. In terms of the north Londoners, though, it does their fans fill up 99.3% of their stadium on home matchdays.

Everton are preparing to move away from Goodison Park in the not too distant future, which may make the battle of reaching a sell-out all the more difficult. The Toffees faithful have managed to cram in enough fans to make up 99.3% of their capacity as they bid farewell to their iconic 39,414-seater.
