Everton are expected to dip into the Championship this summer to sign a sensation they can develop into a potential superstar, sources have told Football Insider.
Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed that David Moyes “ideally would prefer” to sign sme younger stars from the second division to bolster his squad.
Well-placed sources have told Football Insider that the Merseyside giants are looking at some young, hungry, homegrown players that they can grow and develop into bigger stars.
The main focus for Everton right now is on securing Premier League safety, which is something Moyes appears to have successfully achieved since his sensational return to Goodison Park.
There is the potential of a new sporting director joining the club this summer due to Kevin Thelwell’s contract, and that is when the real work is expected to commence on summer plans.
Moyes will be looking to strengthen his squad where possible to ensure Everton don’t end up in the same scenario they have been in recent seasons where they’re fighting for survival.

Football Insider revealed that Everton are interested in West Brom’s Tom Fellows, which is something that dates back to the January transfer window.
The 21-year-old is believed to have been on their radar “for a while” as he is seen as a player who has huge potential.

Signing a winger is being viewed as a priority under Moyes, which is why Fellows is a player the club are monitoring ahead of the summer.

Moyes could also make some ruthless decisions regarding his current squad, with Dominic Calvert-Lewin out of contract in the summer his future is up in the air.
Football Insider also revealed that Everton are likely to pull the plug on signing Jack Harrison on a permanent deal.
He’s been on loan at Goodison Park since 2023, but Moyes is set to cut ties with the Leeds United star at the end of this campaign.
