‘Tottenham to sell Cristian Romero this summer’ – Fans fume at new announcement

Tottenham supporters are calling for Cristian Romero to be sold after reacting furiously to the latest news around the oft-injured defender.

The 26-year-old has not featured for Ange Postecoglou‘s side since the 4-3 defeat to Chelsea, lasting just 15 minutes of the clash before being replaced by Radu Dragusin.

Spurs have been without several of their stars this season, with Micky van de Ven, Dragusin, Dominic Solanke and Richarlison still on the treatment table, but Romero could be returning soon.

Fans were already sceptical when seeing the Tottenham defender return to training last week, with the player having a history of returning just in time for the international break, even being completely out of fitness.

The same situation has now arisen yet again, with Romero making the preliminary squad for matches against Uruguay and Brazil, and many are quickly losing patience despite his talent on the pitch.
Cristian Romero could be called up to Argentina international duty

Benfica’s Nicolas Otamendi, River Plate’s German Pezzella, Marseille’s Leonardo Balerdi, Lens’ Facundo Medina and Villarreal’s Juan Foyth have all been named in the squad.

This, of course, means that Romero may not be one of the players called up in the international window during the two-week break this month, and it is difficult to understand why he would be.

He has played just 12 times in the Premier League this season, facing further injury issues after missing games in other campaigns, and many are keen for Tottenham to cash in on Real Madrid’s interest.

Postecoglou has been left with Kevin Danso and Archie Gray in the centre of defence, and with the Lilywhites sitting 13th in the Premier League, it has been an awful season in North London.

Tottenham want star defender sold in the summer

Pete O’Rourke informed Football Insider that Tottenham would need an “astronomical” offer to sell Romero, but that is always a possibility given his abilities when fully fit.

He has the potential to be one of the best centre-backs in the Premier League when not stuck on the treatment table, but his time with Spurs could be coming to an end this summer.

One fan has gone as far as to accuse the Argentine of “deliberately slowing down his recovery” in time for the international break, with multiple calling for him to be sold in the next transfer window.

The defender has been labelled a “joke” and a “clown”, with a meltdown on the horizon if he travels during the international break instead of staying in North London.

What a joke, spurs should have told them he’s not fit, unbelievable!

We all could see he was deliberately slowing down his recovery so he’d come back just in time for Argentina games. Surely the club have to speak to Argentina and say he can only play 1 of the games. No point saying he can’t go as he’ll just go anyway like he did before

SELL HIM IN THE SUMMER.

He is as pathetic as the leadership of this club.

He will be back on Thursday, but I can’t lie, it does annoy me that he always seems to be available for Argentina.

In my opinion, he should decline the call up to focus on his fitness for Spurs. Accepting this call up after being out for so long is disrespectful imo.
