Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s troubled time on Merseyside could be coming to an end as we edge closer to the summer transfer window.

As of right now, the main focus for Everton is on achieving a good finish to the season, having once looked almost nailed on for relegation.

David Moyes has masterminded that revival, though he has had to do it without Calvert-Lewin, who has spent an overwhelming majority of that period out injured.

With his contract due to expire this summer, Everton will have a decision to make on not only his future but the futures of several other players who are also in the same situation.

The blow as a result of Calvert-Lewin’s absence has been somewhat subdued by the form of Beto, which could also play a part in any decision that is made on his future.

As it stands, the best option appears to be for Everton to part ways with the striker and allow him to seek greener pastures elsewhere, though the same could be said about several other players.

Calvert-Lewin has struggled this season

As many as eight first-team players are out of contract this summer, and while talks have been going on to secure a new deal for Idrissa Gueye, he may be one of only a handful of players to be retained.

Ashley Young and Seamus Coleman are also out of contract, and it remains to be seen whether either of those will be offered new deals.
