Newcastle United have confirmed that Lewis Hall will miss the Carabao Cup final after the defender was ruled out for the remainder of the season. Hall missed Sunday’s 2-1 FA Cup defeat by Brighton & Hove Albion after picking up an injury in the 2-0 loss at Liverpool last Wednesday.
Reports emerged on Tuesday night claiming that Hall was set to miss the Carabao Cup final against the Reds at Wembley a week on Sunday. However, it has now been confirmed that the 20-year-old will actually miss the remainder of the campaign after sustaining an injury to a bone in his foot.
In a statement, Newcastle said: “Newcastle United defender Lewis Hall will miss the rest of the 2024/25 season after sustaining an injury to a bone in his foot.“The 20-year-old was injured during the Magpies’ Premier League fixture at Liverpool.
“Following a scan and advice from a specialist, Lewis will undergo surgery before a period of rehabilitation with the club’s medical team.
“Everyone at Newcastle United wishes Lewis the very best with his surgery and recovery.”
The news comes just a day after it emerged that Anthony Gordon will also miss the Wembley showdown after Newcastle opted against appealing the red card he received against the Seagulls on Sunday. The former Everton man was dismissed for violent conduct seven minutes from the end of normal time after catching Jan Paul van Hecke in the face as the pair tussled for the ball.
He now faces a three-match ban, which will rule him out of the Carabao Cup final against Arne Slot’s side.
