David Moyes wanted to sign two players in January, but the club’s PSR limitations meant the focus was shifted on to the summer.
And it is going to have to be a big summer of transfers for Everton, who have 13 players set to run out of contract over the coming months.
There are a number of areas which are going to need addressing for the Toffees with improvements also needed after a shaky first half of the season.
But Moyes may have just been given a real boost ahead of the window, with one of his targets now set to leave his current club in the summer.
Everton target Vladimir Coufal set to leave West Ham
Moyes wanted a new full-back in January for Everton, with the Toffees lack real depth in either position.
Right-back has been covered expertly by summer signing Jake O’Brien, who is flourishing under the Scotsman.
However, Info Fotbal are now suggesting the 61-year-old has an eye on his former West Ham defender Vladimir Coufal.
The Czech international is believed to be ‘more likely’ to leave the Hammers this summer as his contract expiring in the coming months.
Other clubs are said to also be showing an interest with Fulham credited, as well as interest from outside of the Premier League.
Ashley Young looks set to leave Everton in the summer, and club legend Seamus Coleman could also follow him out the door.
Although O’Brien has really nailed down the starting spot at right-back, it looks like the Toffees are going to need some real bolstering in that position.

Coufal is a player Moyes will know extremely well considering the Scotsman was the one to bring him over to the Premier League.
The 32-year-old defender has now been playing in England for five years and has racked up plenty of experience, as well as a European trophy.

And he is a player who Moyes has showered praise on over the years.
Speaking in a post-game press conference back in 2020, Moyes waxed lyrical about the Czech defender following a game against Leicester City.
“I thought Vladimír was brilliant [against Leicester City]. The biggest thing about him is his experience, his knowledge,” said the no Everton manager.
“That was the reason we thought he would be helpful for us at this time. He also came really highly recommended from Tomas [Soucek], so that helped us make our minds up. I don’t think he disappointed anybody on his debut, that was for sure.”
