Everton are back in Premier League action this weekend as they take on Wolves on Saturday night.

Everton are unbeaten in their last seven league games and are up against a Wolves side who are still fighting for their lives at the foot of the table.

David Moyes’ men have injuries, though, and are winless in two, so it certainly won’t be a straightforward game.

With Dwight McNeil and Iliman Ndiaye still injured, Everton are lacking some creativity on the flanks, so it’s up to Jack Harrison to really step up.

Moyes has placed his trust in Harrison over the last few weeks and was heard giving him words of encouragement during the warm-weather training camp this week.

With all that said, ahead of the clash at Molineux, Paul Merson has just predicted the score.

Paul Merson convinced Everton will beat Wolves with Matheus Cunha suspended

Writing in his weekly Sportskeeda column, Merson is absolutely certain Everton will beat Wolves this weekend after Matheus Cunha’s suspension.

“I’m going to back Everton to win here because Wolves are missing Cunha,” Merson wrote.

“All the big clubs that wanted to sign Cunha will now be looking at his disciplinary record before launching a transfer move for him. It has now happened more than once this season and shows a pattern. If you join a big club, there is a lot more pressure and you don’t see players there acting like that.

“If he can’t find a solution to his disciplinary issues, it will affect his desire to play for one of England’s big clubs. It should’ve been plain sailing for Wolves in the battle to avoid relegation but suddenly they are under pressure after Cunha’s suspension. I can’t see Everton losing this.”

Merson predicted Everton to pick up a 2-1 away win in the West Midlands.

Everton vs Wolves: Last five meetings

Everton’s last five meetings against Wolves don’t actually make for great reading from a Toffees perspective.

Whilst they won the reserve fixture earlier this season, and rather convincingly, they’ve not won in the previous four clashes.

  • Dec 04, 2024: Everton 4-0 Wolves
  • Dec 30, 2023: Wolves 3-0 Everton
  • Aug 26, 2023: Everton 0-1 Wolves
  • May 20, 2023: Wolves 1-1 Everton
  • Dec 26, 2022: Everton 1-2 Wolves

In fact, Wolves have won three of their last five games against Everton, so they’ll certainly be fancying it on Saturday.
