Everton have posted an update on Dominic Calvert-Lewin amid the ongoing uncertainty around the future of the striker.
The 28-year-old is out of contract with the Toffees at the end of this season meaning he is currently due to leave the club on a free transfer in the summer.
Earlier this season Newcastle were credited with an interest in Calvert-Lewin amid his potential departure from Merseyside in the coming months.
However, it has recently emerged that Calvert-Lewin is after new contract talks with Everton with a view to extending his stay there, after changing agents.
Against that backdrop, the club have now taken to social media to provide an update on an another aspect of the striker’s situation ahead of the end of the season.

Not for the first time, this has been a campaign hampered by injury for the England international at Goodison Park.

Back in January, Calvert-Lewin played just 13 minutes for Everton v Brighton before having to be substituted, in a game that the Toffess went on to win 1-0.

Since then, the striker has not played a single minute for David Moyes‘ side after being ruled out with a hamstring problem.
The 28-year-old is though making progress in his recovery as he bids to get back in action, with Everton revealing via Instagram on Thursday (1 May) confirmation Calvert-Lewin is now back in training.
In response to that, several of his teammates were keen to show their support, with the likes of Idrissa Gueye and James Tarkowski – who is currently out injured himself – liking that post from the club.

The call over whether or not to give Calvert-Lewin a new contract come the summer may not be an easy one for the Toffees.
Armando Broja is only on loan from Chelsea until the end of this season and has had his own injury problems, while Beto has struggled to consistently score goals for Everton this season.
Some alternative firepower is therefore clearly needed, and Calvert-Lewin has shown in the past he can produce a solid goal-return when he is regularly fit and available.
But given how unreliable his fitness has become in recent years, it doesn’t feel as though he can be trusted to do that anymore so Everton will surely have to sign a new striker in the market this summer.
That will then lead to questions over whether they can afford to give Calvert-Lewin a new contract on top of that when they have other positions to strengthen as
well.
