It is believed that Tottenham Hotspur are showing an interest in Branthwaite ahead of the summer, among a host of other clubs.
The defender is not one of the many players out of contract over the coming months, but he is a player in demand.
However, the 23-year-old has now indicated he will not be going anywhere this summer as he shared a surprising revelation.
“Yeah, I think to be captain one day would be something I’d be thrilled to do,” Branthwaite replied to one young Evertonian.
Obviously, I’m still young at the moment, there’s some more experienced players than me in the team. I think to play at Bramley-Moore as well – you can see how good the stadium is – so to play there for Everton is something I’ll look forward to doing.”
The Friedkins are desperate to hand Branthwaite a new contract, with the centre-back playing a huge role in the Moyes revolution on Merseyside.
But hearing his dreams of becoming Everton’s captain will be music to the ears of the fans at Goodison and will certainly ease a few concerns.
Branthwaite says David Moyes could even play him as striker
There has been no hiding from Everton’s injury issues this season, and the biggest problems have been up front.
Everton have been without Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Armando Broja for weeks now, with Youssef Chermiti making his return recently.
This has seen Beto prove his worth, with a fine run of form coming from the Portuguese striker under Moyes.
However, in the same interview, Branthwaite suggested he could potentially offer something playing up front.
“I think I would play striker,” Branthwaite replied to the young fan in the kids’ press conference.
Everton defender Michael Keane can play up front, and it seems the departing centre-back already has his heir to the throne in place.
