Manchester United are set to have a pretty busy summer transfer window, with Ruben Amorim and co hoping to get rid of some unwanted players and to bring in the sort of quality to help the manager’s long-term playing vision for the club. One of the biggest targets for the Red Devils is reportedly Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite, but it appears that the player has some of his own ‘demands’ to make the jump.
According to a new report from The Sun, Branthwaite is the side’s “top target” when it comes to sorting the backline this summer. United will be hoping to get the deal over the line sooner rather than later after they missed out on the England International during the last window.

The Sun are claiming that Branthwaite has some conditions when it comes to joining the red side of Manchester. Reportedly, he will only join the side if they manage to qualify for the Champions League. Of course, the only way for Amorim and his side to do so would be by winning the Europa League, which is still quite the task.
Getting the Europa League trophy would be a decent end to a season to forget for United, and if they’re able to get the likes of Branthwaite on board as an added bonus then next season might start to look more promising.
Jarrad Branthwaite Transfer Value
Branthwaite currently has an estimated transfer value of around €33M (according to FootballTransfers), but it will likely take a lot more than that to convince Everton to let one of their star performers go. Estimates around £50 Million seem to be where the Toffees would look to sign off on the move, and even with United having their own monetary issues in recent years, they will still want to splash the cash for a big-name signing.
What Amorim has said about winning the Europa League
Speaking ahead of the first leg of their round of 16 clash with Real Sociedad, Amorim said: “I think it’s not the crucial thing for the future of the club. That is my view. I’m here for three months and I think that is clear, but I understand it’s a massive difference in our season, especially because we are out of the cups and in a bad position in the league. That [the Europa League] could change a lot of things, even the way they see the coach.
“So I know it’s a massive pressure but I will say it again: Manchester United can call all the best players, even without Champions League in the future. We have to change a lot of things and we’re trying to do that. There’s more important things than winning cups in this moment. That is my feeling, but I understand winning Europa League can change everything for us in the next season.”
