He is the Magpies’ talisman up front, with Alexander Isak boasting 23 goals so far this season. His most recent strike came in Newcastle’s Carabao Cup win, as they beat Liverpool at Wembley.
After the game, Isak vowed there is more to come, amid speculation over his Toon future. He is being linked with the likes of Arsenal and Liverpool, but Toon chairman Yasir Al-Rumayyan has no interest in selling Isak.
To ensure he does not leave, Newcastle plan to offer Isak a new contract.

In fact, it looks set to be the biggest contract that Newcastle United have ever offered.
That is according to TBR Football’s chief correspondent Graeme Bailey, who has spoken to Geordie Boot Boys about what Newcastle are prepared to do to keep Isak at St James’ Park.
“I’m told Newcastle are willing to break their club record, which is currently around £160,000-a-week for Bruno Guimaraes,” he said.
“Are they willing to go beyond £200,000-a-week? I think they probably will be.”

No matter what happens regarding Isak’s future, he is part of Newcastle United history. He was part of the team that ended the club’s trophy drought, and even scored what proved to be the winner at Wembley.
But will winning the Carabao Cup have an impact on Isak’s Toon future? Not according to Bailey, who insists becoming Newcastle’s highest paid player and Champions League football are going to be the decisive factors.
“The simple answer is no. Finishing in the top five is more important. Winning a League Cup will not persuade Alexander Isak to sign a new contract. And he does need to sign a new contract, despite him having a deal until 2028. That’s not how football works anymore.
“The thing that will persuade Isak is Champions League football. Newcastle also need to break their wage structure to keep him. If you ask anyone at Newcastle if Isak is the best striker in Europe, you don’t get much pushback. That’s fair enough, but if that’s the case then you need to pay him as such. That will mean breaking the £200,000-a-week barrier. That is something that Newcastle have not done yet.
“If Newcastle do not finish in the top five, it will be difficult to keep Isak, but not impossible.”
