Alexander Isak drops future hint after Yasir Al-Rumayyan makes Newcastle request

Alexander Isak has dropped a fresh hint on his Newcastle United future by insisting his only focus is helping the club get to the Champions League next season.
You’d expect Champions League qualification to quash any lingering doubts but before the Carabao Cup final Isak himself said that a trophy aim was at the top of his agenda. However, until his enhanced contract is signed, the questions on his next steps will keep coming from journalists outside of the North East patch.

The Sweden international will be aiming for more goals when his country take on Luxembourg in a friendly after netting in the Carabao Cup final on Sunday. Inevitably, Isak has been quizzed on both the prospect of a new contract from Newcastle while reports in Sweden have indicated there is interest from Bayern Munich and Paris St-Germain.

Isak told Fotbollskanalen.se: “From within the club and from our side there are absolutely no discussions. It’s just full focus on playing for me.
“There is a lot of writing outside but within the club no one is talking about anything like that.”
“I just want to perform for Newcastle. Now we won the cup, but we want to finish strong and reach the Champions League games.”

Chronicle Live understands that Isak and his representatives will sit down with the club at the end of the campaign and thrash out details on an new enhanced deal. Toon chiefs are relaxed about Isak’s future and the striker shared time with Yasir Al-Rumayyan after the Wembley win.
It is believed that both the Newcastle chairman and Isak are reading off the same page. When asked if he has been distracted by talk of his future, Isak said: “It’s pretty normal, pretty much the same as it was before. I do my best to relax and live as usual. But it’s clear that it’s hard to avoid everything that is written on social media.”

Isak admitted that he did not spend too long at the club’s post-game party at The Grove in Hertfordshire as he had to head to Sweden for international duty. Isak said: “It was not too long for me, I had to leave in the morning. But it was enough for me.
“To see all the fans, my friends and family and have a moment with everyone. Being able to bring joy to the supporters who had waited a long time for a title meant a lot to Isak.”
