England were in action against Latvia on Monday night.

Fans have been reacting on social media after spotting something ‘wrong’ with Marcus Rashford’s performance for England.

On Monday night, Thomas Tuchel took charge of his second England match as the Three Lions welcomed Latvia to Wembley for a 2026 World Cup qualifier.

As expected, England dominated from start to finish as goals from Reece James, Harry Kane and Eberechi Eze sealed a routine 3-0 win.

Reacting on social media, fans were left wondering after watching Rashford’s recent performances and questioned whether he is playing too safe.

One fan said: “Feels wrong to watch a Rashford performance where he’s only trying to create instead of cutting inside and striking one.

“His crossing technique is inconsistent and it’s clear he’s a shoot-first player, just not sure why he’s playing a lot more safer for club/country recently.”

Another tweeted: “It feels like the only time he had balance to his game was during that COVID period.”

A third fan added: “I think he’s still suffering from a lack of confidence.”

Someone else wrote: “I think his confidence is just shot, which is unfortunate. Eze came on and immediately started cutting in and eventually got a goal, was disappointed Rashford couldn’t do any of that for the majority of the game.”

One fan defended the 27-year-old, writing: “He still did Ok. One of the better performers on the pitch.”

Rashford played 74 minutes against Albania on Friday night before being replaced by Anthony Gordon. Against Latvia, the Aston Villa loanee was taken off with 11 minutes left of the 90, with Curtis Jones coming on in his place.

After the match against Albania, Tuchel was left wanting more from the likes of Rashford and Phil Foden.

He said: “We hope for more impact in these positions. More dribbling and more aggressive runs towards the box. In general, that was missing. The chances come from the little runs behind the line.
