It was a special day for those in attendance who were able to see their side end an agonising wait for silverware that lasted a lifetime.
Newcastle United lifted the Carabao Cup on the arches of Wembley Stadium thanks to goals from local hero Dan Burn and star striker Alexander Isak.
Bruno Guimaraes was openly weeping when Newcastle won. He joined the club to make history and he did just that by becoming the first captain to take the Magpies to silverware since Bob Moncur in 1969.
The atmosphere amongst the Newcastle fans was electric, with the stadium erupting when Isak scored the second of the game, having had one disallowed a few minutes prior.
Former Manchester United captain and commentator for the game Gary Neville said Wembley was shaking when Newcastle scored, something he had never felt at the ground before.
Neville was pleased to see Newcastle win, a lot more than former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher who was left raging after comments from Neville during the game.

Carragher admitted that Newcastle deserved to beat Liverpool, despite rallying for his former club to beat the Magpies.
The game itself was full of surprises and drama, Liverpool boss Arne Slot was in awe at Burn’s goal, claiming he had never seen a header like his scored before.
Burn’s header was no fluke, however, Eddie Howe practised set-pieces with Newcastle for weeks ahead of the final and got it spot on when it mattered.
Carragher appeared on The Overlap’s Stick to Football podcast alongside Neville, Roy Keane, Jill Scott and Ian Wright the group got onto the topic of the Carabao Cup final.
“It was a great day for Newcastle.” Neville said, to which Carragher hilariously replied: “Yeah I could tell on commentary. ‘take it to the corner!’ What are you doing? Good job I was on the side of the pitch because I’d have f****** punched you.”
Scott brought up Neville’s comments about the stadium shaking to which the Man United legend responded with: “It was unbelievable, the atmosphere was brilliant. To be fair, you knew on the day that apart from if you were a Liverpool fan it was a pretty special day.
“I think everyone in the country felt good about that. Newcastle haven’t won a trophy for 70 years – it was unbelievable. The fans behind us to the left, honestly, if you had seen their faces, the screaming, the veins in their necks – they’ve never felt that in their lives.”

The buzz around the city of Newcastle has been sensational since the Carabao Cup win, places all over are still flying black and white flags with pride
And by no means are the celebrations ending soon either, as Newcastle are set to present the Carabao Cup trophy to over 100,000 fans at a celebration event on the Town Moor on Saturday.
People have been working tirelessly behind the scenes to get the event up and running, with the club liaising with the council and many other parties to make sure it is the best possible event for them.
Newcastle have organised a bus parade to show off the trophy to fans around the city centre before ending at the Town Moor for a day of celebration.
After initially turning down the opportunity, rumours suggest that Sam Fender could be at Newcastle’s trophy celebrations on Saturday, but nothing has been confirmed as of yet.
