Fuming Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers has slammed Vaclav Cerny after his wild celebrations following Rangers’ last-gasp winner on derby day.

The ‘watergate’ saga has dominated the fallout from Rangers derby triumph over their rivals after Cerny was spotted by TV cameras squirting water at the home crowd following Hamza Igamane’s strike.

The Celtic Park crowd were left furious with police and security intervening amid an angry reaction from the Hoops support.

Cerny is facing an SFA and police probe over the flashpoint – but the winger branded the reaction to his wild celebration “absurd ” during the international break.

Boss Barry Ferguson said ahead of the return of Scottish football that he wanted to see his players celebrate goals – but conceded the Czech winger got “overexcited”.

But Rodgers took a dim view of the incident, saying: “I obviously heard what had happened and you can’t do that – that’s the reality.

“I understand the jubilation and Rangers players have every right to celebrate with their supporters.

“You come to Celtic Park, like it would be if you go to Ibrox, and win a game of that magnitude you celebrate. But not in that way.

“It’s a lack of respect if a player runs up the touchline and squirts a water bottle in a supporter’s face , I certainly wouldn’t want my players to do that.

“There’s a line we shouldn’t cross. It’s a very emotive game, an amazing fixture and I thought it was great to have the fans back in, I think that gave it that extra bit as well.

“But I just think there is lines we can’t antagonise because, in this fixture in particular, that can lead to an issue.
