Lewis Hall says Newcastle United have a £15m player who might be faster than Anthony Gordon

Lewis Hall has made an interesting claim about who he thinks is the fastest Newcastle United player.

The youngster could have included himself in that list given how quick he looks when on the counter-attack with Newcastle United, but instead, he opted to give the limelight to his teammates.

Lewis Hall has been brilliant for Newcastle this season, bagging five important assists in the Premier League, including one in the 4-3 thriller against Nottingham Forest at St James’ Park in February.

Sadly, ankle surgery means that Hall will miss Newcastle’s last nine games of the Premier League campaign. He also missed the Carabao Cup final with the injury he picked up in the game against Liverpool at Anfield two weeks before the trip to Wembley.

Newcastle players called Hall at Wembley to make sure he was able to be a part of their celebrations in the dressing room. There is no confirmed news of whether he will be in attendance, but fans will hope to see Hall at Newcastle’s trophy celebrations on Saturday.

While fans may not be able to see the 21-year-old on the pitch, the Premier League have posted a new video with Hall where he has revealed some surprising facts about his teammates, including naming a player who could rival Anthony Gordon as the fastest on the team.

Lewis Hall’s surprise pick for Newcastle’s fastest player

Hall joined Sven Botman on the operating table this month, the Dutchman is out with a knee injury he picked up in Newcastle’s Carabao Cup semi-final win against Arsenal at St James’ Park.

However, Botman is making great progress and could be back in action before the end of the season for Eddie Howe‘s side – fans will have to wait until next season to see Hall back in action.

Speaking on the Premier League’s ‘Uncut’ series, Hall was asked who he believes is the fastest player in Newcastle’s squad.

To the surprise of very few, Hall named Gordon but also gave credit to William Osula for his pace.

“Do you know what? I think Will Osula (should be included on the rapid list). Him and Ant would be a really good race.

“I’m not sure who’s winning that, but I think Alex (Isak) as well.

“Ant and Will are probably the two quickest in the team, I’d say.”

Osula signed for Newcastle for £15m last summer, and although he hasn’t set the world alight yet, he has shown signs of becoming a top player under Howe, mainly due to his performances in the FA Cup.

Lewis Hall recalls his favourite Newcastle memory

In his 18 months at the club, the defender has created some pretty amazing memories. Hall was called up to the England squad last November and was tipped to be named in Thomas Tuchel’s first Three Lions squad alongside the likes of Dan Burn before his injury.

In the same ‘Uncut’ video, Hall was asked what his favourite memory as a Newcastle player was, it was a no brainer for the youngster, who immediately looked back to the 3-0 win against Manchester United at Old Trafford in 2023.

“My first goal for Newcastle was very important for me,” Hall said.

“I hadn’t scored at Chelsea or anything, so that was my first senior goal – that was obviously a big moment for me as well.”

Newcastle fans will be hoping Hall can make some similar memories with the club once he returns from injury.
