Newcastle United supporters have urged the club to sell Nick Pope following a fresh update on his future at St James’ Park.
Eddie Howe’s side have endured a disappointing season, sitting in 13th place, out of all domestic competitions, and pinning their hopes on the Europa League as their only chance of silverware.
Defensive issues have plagued the team throughout the campaign, despite the arrivals of Sven Botman and Harrison Ashby. However, some fans believe the real problem lies in goal.
Pope has faced heavy criticism this season for his costly errors, with many questioning his ability to provide stability at the back. His struggles playing out from the back have led to frequent mistakes, further fuelling frustration among the fanbase who are calling for him to be sold.
But now, a fresh update on Pope’s future could provide the answer to their requests.

Nick Pope is ‘unsettled’ at Newcastle as Saudi interest grows
Alex Crook of talkSPORT has reported “serious interest” from the Saudi Pro League in the English goalkeeper, with Pope said to have been “unsettled for some time.”
Crook also revealed that Howe is “not against selling Pope” after a season riddled with costly errors.
Concerns over the shot-stopper’s form have been growing for months. Former Newcastle chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider on 26 February that figures within Newcastle are concerned about Pope’s performances this season.
Newcastle’s ongoing defensive struggles have only added to the pressure on their goalkeeper, but his mistakes have been impossible to ignore. He has conceded 53 goals this season while managing just nine clean sheets.

Newcastle fans call for Martin Dubravka return amid Nick Pope potential exit
The Magpies signed Pope for £10 million under Eddie Howe, expecting him to be a long-term successor to Martin Dubravka. However, the move has failed to work out as planned.
Some Newcastle fans are now calling for Dubravka’s return, with the Slovakian currently playing for Manchester United on loan.
Pope was initially seen as a key part of Newcastle’s future, but after just two seasons, his time at St James’ Park already looks to be coming to an end.
One fan reacted to the latest reports, saying: “He’s been mostly awful at Newcastle. He should be gone in the summer” while another added: “Sell him, please.”
