Kyogo Furuhashi could be in line for a stunning return to Celtic just months after leaving the club.
The Japan international won three Scottish Premiership titles and the hearts of Hoops fans after arriving under Ange Postecoglou in 2021.
Rennes paid around £10million to land the 30-year-old in the January transfer window, while Portuguese winger Jota moved in the opposite direction after an impressive previous spell at Celtic Park.
Furuhashi sent an emotional message to Celtic fans in the wake of his exit, with the Parkhead faithful left scratching their heads as to the driving force behind the shock move.
Football Insider revealed on 28 March Celtic will move to re-sign Furuhashi if a deal presents itself that’s too good to turn down.
Rennes are reportedly willing to let the forward leave for around £3.5million this summer after he’s failed to score in his four Ligue 1 appearances.

Aberdeen’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Pittodrie between 2000 and 2004, had lengthy spells as the chief of Everton and Aston Villa and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – revealed he would be “surprised” if Furuhashi doesn’t return to Celtic Park this summer.
The Japanese registered 85 goals and 19 assists in 165 appearances for the Scottish champions before completing his move to France.

Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, Wyness insisted Furuhashi made a “mistake” leaving Celtic in January.
He told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “No doubt he’s a huge talent and I think he’s got a better chance of moving from Celtic potentially into the Premier League if he does well again.
“I’d be surprised if he doesn’t go back to Celtic.
“I think that’s what makes all the sense in the world. I think he’d be welcomed back.
“I think he’s made a mistake and I think often, if you’re lucky, it’s only half a season that you’ve had to learn that you’ve made a mistake.
“I suggest he goes back to Glasgow, gets himself sorted out and now kicks on after that.”
