Chelsea keeper choice
Chelsea plan to decide on a new number one goalkeeper next season from their current crop of options.
The Blues have been strongly linked with signing a new stopper in the summer.
Amongst their rumoured targets is Borussia Dortmund’s Gregor Kobel.
However, Ben Jacobs reports that those reports are wide of the mark and no approaches have been made to keepers at other clubs.
Instead, Chelsea will install one of Robert Sanchez, Filip Jorgensen, Djordje Petrovic or Mike Penders between the sticks.
Sanchez and Jorgensen have battled to be Enzo Maresca’s first-choice this term.
Petrovic previously held the honour under Mauricio Pochettino but was loaned out to Strasbourg last summer.
As for Penders, the teenage Belgian keeper joined the Blues in 2024 before returning to Genk on a season-long loan.

Elland Road plans
Newly-promoted Leeds have unveiled proposed images for their planned expansion of Elland Road.
The Championship side sealed a return to the Premier League on Easter Monday.
They will play top-flight football once again next term, two years on from relegation in 2023.
Leeds are also now looking to move forward with plans to ‘modernise and improve’ their famous home.
It comes after Leeds City Council unanimously agreed to the project, which will look to increase the capacity to 53,000 fans.
Elland Road, which has been Leeds’ home since their formation in 1919, currently holds 37,645 supporters.
Redevelopment work includes revitalising the West and North Stands as well as changes to the South Stand.
The club hope the expansion will help meet the demand for tickets, with 26,000 supporters currently on their season ticket waiting list.

‘Unforgettable’ celebration
Councillor Liam Robinson has promised an ‘unforgettable’ day for Liverpool fans at their victory parade.
The Reds have confirmed a celebration in the city on May 26, the day after their final match of the season.
In a statement, Cllr Robinson said: “We’re delighted to officially invite Liverpool Football Club to parade around the city on May 26. A Liverpool victory parade is more than football – it’s a celebration of our city’s pride, passion and community spirit.
“A huge amount of work goes on behind the scenes in preparation for an event of this size and scale, and there has already been months of careful planning taking place as the Team Liverpool approach – which we saw work so well throughout Eurovision – comes to the fore again.
“It’s set to be an unforgettable Bank Holiday weekend as we give the team the celebration they deserve.”
The squad will celebrate their 20th league title with supporters on a 15km route through the city.
As in 2019 and 2022, the parade will begin at Allerton Maze in the south of Liverpool.
The parade is expected to last between three and five hours, with the route ending at Blundell Street.

Rashford ruled out
Marcus Rashford is set to miss the rest of the season through injury.
The on loan Aston Villa winger was absent from Saturday’s FA Cup final defeat due to a hamstring issue.
According to The Athletic, he is expected to be ruled out for their remaining four Premier League matches.
Rashford will not undergo surgery on the injury, with the 27-year-old undergoing rehab and tests at Villa.
However, the club have not ruled out a return for their final home game of the season against Tottenham on May 18.
Rashford is ineligible for the final day trip to parent club Manchester United the following week.
Meanwhile, his priority is understood to be on getting fit in time for England’s two matches in June.
The Three Lions face Andorra away from home in World Cup qualifying on June 7 before a friendly against Senegal three days later.

Kane’s ‘dream move’
Liverpool have been told to swoop for Harry Kane this summer after winning the Premier League title.
Ally McCoist believes the Reds are still lacking a ‘proper goalscorer’ to lead their attack.
Although Mohamed Salah has scored 28 league goals this term, he is the only player to pass the 15-goal mark for Arne Slot’s side.
As a result, McCoist believes a striker should be a priority in the summer, with Kane an ideal option for the champions.
The talkSPORT co-host told Breakfast: “I look at Liverpool just now and they could probably still do with an out-and-out number nine, proper goalscorer.
“Diaz has been brilliant, Salah has been absolutely out of this world and they’ve got midfielders chipping in.
“I don’t see it happening, but see, if Harry Kane won the Bundesliga, which he will do, and then fancy if he would come back to England?
“I just think, for Liverpool, that would be a dream move for them.”

Liverpool victory parade
Liverpool have confirmed they will hold a victory parade through the city with the Premier League trophy.
The Reds sealed a record-equalling 20th league title on Sunday by beating Tottenham.
It capped a stunning debut season in charge for Arne Slot after succeeding Jurgen Klopp in the dugout.
Following the joyous title celebrations at Anfield, a trophy parade will also be held following the end of the season.
In a statement, the club confirmed it will be held on May 26, the day after their final match of the season.
The Reds are set to be presented with the trophy at home to Crystal Palace on May 25.
Their parade the following day will begin at 2.30pm and follow a 15km route.
Similarly to their 2019 and 2022 parades, the route will begin at Allerton Maze and conclude at Blundell Street with a predicted journey time of three to five hours.

Trent sends message
Trent Alexander-Arnold has sent a message to Liverpool fans after their title triumph.
The Reds sealed their Premier League triumph at Anfield on Sunday.
Needing only a point, they came from behind to thrash Tottenham 5-1.
The win secured Alexander-Arnold’s second league title, having been part of the side which did the same in 2019/20.
Following the victory, he shared a series of snaps from Liverpool’s title celebrations to social media on Monday.
Alongside a post on Instagram, Alexander-Arnold wrote: “For the City. For the Fans.”
It comes amid speculation surrounding the 26-year-old’s future.

Pogba gives update
Paul Pogba has revealed he is ‘hungry’ to return to football as his search for a club continues.
The former Manchester United midfielder remains a free agent after leaving Juventus in December.
Pogba has since been linked with several clubs including a sensational return to Old Trafford.
After almost six months without a club, he has now issued an update to his social media followers.
In a video shared to Instagram, the Frenchman said: “What’s up it’s your boy PP.
“I mean, this is just a little message that I think shows someone who is still hungry for the comeback. I have been training by myself, but never giving up and always chasing my dream and what I want to achieve.
“So just a little message for all of you guys that right now, you don’t get what you want, but just keeping trying, keep pushing until you get it. It might be tomorrow, it might be in one year, two years, but man what is going to happen, is going to happen so, let’s go.
“Big up and I will see you very soon.”

Arsenal omen
Arsenal have been handed a positive omen ahead of their Champions League clash with Paris Saint-Germain.
The two sides will meet in the first leg of their semi-final at the Emirates Stadium on Tuesday.
Ahead of the match, UEFA have confirmed their referee appointments for this week’s semi-finals.
Slovenian official Slavko Vincic will take charge of the Gunners’ meeting with PSG.
He will be in familiar territory having already officiated the two sides at the same venue during the league phase.
Arsenal hosted PSG on matchday two back in October, winning 2-0 thanks to goals from Kai Havertz and Bukayo Saka.
The win was one of six for Mikel Arteta’s side during the league phase as they finished third in the standings.
They have since beaten PSV and Real Madrid to set up their showdown with the French champions.

Slot hailed
Gary Neville has heaped praise on Arne Slot after Liverpool’s title triumph.
The Dutchman has secured the club’s 20th league success in his first season as Reds boss.
Liverpool were confirmed as Premier League champions after beating Tottenham at Anfield on Sunday.
Speaking on Sky Sports coverage, Neville explained: “I think they deserve great congratulations.
“I think it’s one of the great coaching performances that we’ve seen – to come in from Jurgen Klopp, to not get the players he wanted in the transfer window, to have the shadow of the three, probably the best players in their positions in Europe, hanging over him all season, you’ve got to hand it to him.
“It’s absolutely a brilliant achievement.”
Slot replaced Jurgen Klopp as manager last summer following his exit after nine years in charge.
This season’s title triumph is the second of his managerial career after winning the Eredivisie with Feyenoord last term.

Palmer gets his kicks
The reason behind Cole Palmer’s bizarre post-match antics on Saturday have been revealed.
Palmer was filmed sprinting out of Stamford Bridge following Chelsea’s win over Everton.
Fans swarmed the midfielder as he ran away from the stadium.
It has now been revealed he had been running to collect a new pair of Prada trainers.
TikTok user Leon Gissing shared a video showing that he met Palmer following the match to drop off his shoes.
The clip shows fans posing for photos and having shirts signed by the England international.
Gissing, who goes by ‘Plug Leon’ on social media, has a star-studded clientele including Karim Benzema and Riyad Mahrez.
His social media also shows he has previously sold products to Palmer’s Blues team-mate Malo Gusto.

Spurs boost
Tottenham have received a boost ahead of their Europa League semi-final first leg.
Spurs host Norwegian side Bodo/Glimt in the first leg on Thursday.
Ahead of the match, their opponents have been handed a fresh injury blow as their selection concerns mount.
Defedner Odin Bjortuft was forced off during the second half of their league match against KFUM at the weekend.
His potential absence adds to a list of three players already suspended for the first leg.
Captain Patrick Berg will miss the trip to North London along with Hakon Evjen and Andreas Helmersen.
The Europa League remains Ange Postecoglou’s only chance of silverware and a route into Europe this term.
Following Sunday’s 5-1 loss to Liverpool, Spurs sit 16th in the Premier League and are on course for their lowest finish since promotion in 1978.

Trent hint
Cody Gakpo has dropped a major hint on Trent Alexander-Arnold’s Liverpool future.
The full-back is set to leave the club when his contract expires this summer after 21 years with the Reds.
Alexander-Arnold is understood to have agreed terms with Real Madrid on a five-year deal.
However, Gakpo remains hopeful he will follow in the footsteps of Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk by extending his stay.
The pair have both signed new two-year deals at Anfield in recent weeks.
Speaking during Sunday’s title celebrations, Gakpo said: “Now with Mo and Virgil staying, and hopefully Trent as well, they can keep building.”
Alexander-Arnold has made 351 appearances for Liverpool, scoring 23 goals from right-back and adding 90 assists.
This season’s title triumph is his second Premier League victory and a ninth trophy with the club.

Top Slot
Liverpool manager Arne Slot chanted the name of his predecessor Jurgen Klopp after guiding the Reds to a record-equalling 20th top-flight title on Sunday.
Slot’s side secured the Premier League crown with four games to spare as they came from behind to thrash Tottenham 5-1 on a sunny afternoon at Anfield.
The Dutchman had a tough act to follow after replacing the hugely popular and successful Klopp last summer but he proved any doubters wrong in a highly impressive debut campaign.
One of Klopp’s final acts as Liverpool boss was sing Slot’s name as he bade an emotional farewell to Anfield and his successor felt it was right to return the compliment as he addressed the crowd.
Asked later why he made that gesture, Slot said: “Because of what he did before I even arrived here – I think that is something not one manager ever did before.
“That definitely helped me but, apart from that, he helped me even more by the team he left behind and the culture he left behind in that team.”
Liverpool were given a raucous welcome by supporters prior to the game and Slot felt that energised the team.
He said: “We still had to do it but I think everybody who was inside that bus felt if the fans are with us like they are, then it’s impossible for us to lose this game of football.
“It’s special. Special to be part of this day and, to do this in front of our fans, it’s special for everyone.”

Taking it all in
Ibrahima Konate has been savouring the moment.
The Liverpool defender has been spotted sitting in the main stand at Anfield after winning his first Premier League title.
And honestly, who can blame him?
First, let me take a selfie
Mohamed Salah celebrated his goal for Liverpool with a selfie, and it’s now been released on social media.
The Reds legend is joined by hundreds of adoring fans in the Kop as they went on to thrash Tottenham 5-1
There’ll surely be plenty of supporters framing this image!
Football, eh?
Jurgen Klopp could have been a three-time Premier League winner with Liverpool.
He ended the club’s 30-year wait to become champions of England in the 2019/20, but narrowly missed out on two other occasions.
In the season before, they finished on 97 points but Manchester City nicked the title on 98 points.
Three years later it was deja vu, as Liverpool reached 92 points only for City to go a step further and hit 93.
But Arne Slot hasn’t faced such difficulty as his Reds side have won the title with 82 points.

Returning the favour
And here is a video of Arne Slot’s tribute to Jurgen Klopp.
Anfield has sung the names of two historic managers who have led them to deserved Premier League glory.
Trent loving life
Trent Alexander-Arnold is in full party mood inside the Liverpool dressing room.
The England star could well leave Liverpool for Real Madrid this summer.
But for now, he is enjoying the title win alongside his Reds team-mates and has posted a sneak peak into the celebrations.
‘I always thank Jurgen’
Liverpool star Alexis Mac Allister: “Not bad, not bad. To win a World Cup and a Premier League is amazing, I wouldn’t be able to do it without the team, I’m just one part of the puzzle.
“We showed it last year but it wasn’t enough, it’s really special and hopefully this week we can enjoy it.
“It was really good, I don’t think I’ll experience it again, it wasn’t bad.
“Really pleased, it was the right decision for me [to join Liverpool]. Not just the team but the club and the city, I’m really enjoying my time and I always thank Jurgen because he was an important part.”

‘We got there in the end’
Liverpool full-back Andy Robertson: “The last time we won it was a strange time, it was unique the way we did it but you can’t beat what we experienced, the fans before, during and after the game, I’m glad we experienced that.
“It was better lads back then, it was a different style of play, it was high energy, high press. This team is a bit more controlled. They’re two very different teams but the key things are the same.
“The consistency has been there for both teams and we got there in the end. We’ve always showed up.

The 27-year-old was set to play at Wembley, after scoring four goals and providing six assists since joining in February.
But he suffered a hamstring injury in training on Thursday, forcing him out of Saturday’s 3-0 defeat by Palace.
Gutted boss Unai Emery revealed: “He’s injured.
“He got injured this week and yesterday we did a test – it is his hamstring.

“We are going to try to test him each match but he’s injured and probably won’t be available for some weeks.”
This spells bad news for Rashford as there is just one month left until the final game of the season on May 24.
It is the latest blow to hit Villa after they crashed out of the Champions League to Paris Saint-Germain, then lost ground in the Premier League after losing to a last minute goal at Manchester City on Tuesday.
The 27-year-old, who scored a first-half penalty at the Etihad, replaced by Ollie Watkins after 76 minutes.

He wrote: “Losing a game in the last minutes was tough, but we have to stay focused and be ready for the next game.”

But that could have been his final game in Villa colours, with his future up in the air.
Rashford is on loan from Manchester United until the end of the season, with Villa holding the option to buy him for a reported fee of £40m.
But the England international said he is yet to make a decision about his next step, with a return to Old Trafford potentially still on the cards.
Villa missed Rashford as the Midlands club crashed out of the FA Cup in brutal fashion.
The Eagles cruised into the third FA Cup final in their history thanks to a brilliant goal by their talismanic No 10 Eberechi Eze and two second-half strikes by fellow forward Ismaila Sarr.
Emery reflected on his Wembley defeat and confessed: “Crystal Palace deserved to win. This year we played them four times and lost three and drew one.
“We have to accept it and keep going in the Premier League where we are close to qualifying for Europe. We must dominate our frustrations.”

Defeat means Villa have just four Premier League games left to chase Champions League qualification, with Rashford potentially set to miss all of them.

Marcus Rashford will have a key decision to make after his loan to Aston Villa
He had been frozen out of the Manchester United side by boss Ruben Amorim
LISTEN NOW: It’s All Kicking Off! Why Bruno Fernandes is the Premier League Player of the Season
Ian Wright has offered a surprise destination for Marcus Rashford this summer, with the England forward’s future still far from clear.
The Manchester United academy graduate is currently on loan at Aston Villa, moving from Old Trafford on February 2, where he has started on the road to realising his previous best form.
Under Unai Emery he eventually ousted Ollie Watkins from the starting line-up, starting the Champions League quarter-final second leg clash with Paris Saint-Germain.
However he is at a crossroads in his career given there is no certainty that he would simply return to United and continue where he left off, after being frozen out by boss Ruben Amorim.
Barcelona have also been linked with Rashford, should he decide against staying at Villa if he chooses to move on from United, but Wright has suggested a possible fourth option.
‘It’s the kind of signing Newcastle should be making,’ Wright said on his Ringer FC podcast.

Rashford has started to rediscover his best form with Aston Villa after leaving Man United
Newcastle currently have Alexander Isak up front but Rashford could partner him out wide
‘That would be amazing. That would be dangerous. Rashford at Newcastle? Yeah. That would be really good. I really like that for Rashford. Rashford at Newcastle can be dangerous.’
Newcastle currently line-up with Jacob Murphy on one wing and Harvey Barnes or Anthony Gordon on the other, flanking Alexander Isak through the middle.
It is a formula that has worked wonders for Eddie Howe this season, with the Magpies winning the Carabao Cup and putting themselves in a great position for a return to the Champions League.
Isak is one of a number of players to have been linked with a move away, although such an eventuality is unlikely given both his importance to Newcastle and the fee his services would demand.
As such Rashford would provide a brilliant option either out wide or as back-up to the Swedish star for next term, and is thought to be keen to join a side battling it out in the Champions League.
Wright was also asked whether he thought that Rashford could return to Man United this summer after his loan move, but the former Arsenal striker was emphatic in his response.
Wright said: ‘Nope. No chance.’
The new head coach had criticised Rashford’s work ethic publicly before leaving him out of the side on a number of occasions, before later sanctioning his move to Villa in January.
Under Ruben Amorim, Rashford was frozen out and decided to leave over the winter

Unai Emery’s side are thought to have a £40million option to make the loan deal permanent
Villa are believed to have a £40million buy option in their loan deal for the England international, though they are not obliged to trigger it.
There is the small matter of Rashford’s current wages, which Aston Villa, and indeed Newcastle, may struggle to afford.
Villa are currently paying only around 75 per cent of his hefty £315,000-a-week wages.
As such, the likelihood of him staying on at Villa Park could well hinge on their qualification for the Champions League, which is far from a given.
They are currently seventh having played a game more than Newcastle who are two points ahead in fifth, the final Champions League spot this season.

Phil Foden kept a positive outlook despite facing criticism from Man City fans for his performance against Bournemouth.
Man City secured their place in the FA Cup semi-finals with a comeback victory on 30 March, overcoming an early setback after Evanilson’s opener.

Second-half goals from Erling Haaland and Omar Marmoush ensured Guardiola’s side will now face Nottingham Forest in the next round.
Despite the result, Foden came under fire from Man City supporters for a below-par display. This only added to the scrutiny Foden faced from England fans during international break.
Still, the midfielder appeared unfazed, sharing an upbeat message with fans after the match.

His message that received plenty of reactions from teammates John Stones and Marmoush, as well as Marcus Rashford.
While Rashford delivered a standout performance for Aston Villa in their FA Cup quarter-final win over Preston, Foden’s form has been a growing concern. The midfielder has struggled for consistency this season, failing to match the heights of his previous campaigns.
Mick Brown, former chief scout at Manchester United, suggested that Foden is struggling with the pressure at Man City and stepping up as their main creative force and eventually succeeding Kevin De Bruyne.
Earlier in the season, Football Insider revealed that Man City’s coaching staff had raised concerns over Foden and his performances in what has been an underwhelming campaign for Pep Guardiola’s side.
Despite the criticism, the Spanish manager has kept faith in Foden, who has featured 39 times this season, scoring 10 goals.

John Stones’ injury woes spark speculation over Man City exit
While Stones has been active on social media alongside Foden, he too has faced scrutiny from supporters.
The defender has struggled with recurring injuries, with a hamstring problem in February—raising further doubts over his long-term future at the club.
Some Man City fans have called for the club to move on from Stones due to his persistent fitness issues. Those calls may soon be answered, as Man City are open to offers for Stones this summer.
With the club already undergoing a squad refresh following an active January transfer window, Stones’ place in Guardiola’s long-term plans remains uncertain.
