The will be a huge turnover of players at West Ham, with Graham Potter set to freshen things up at the London Stadium.
The entire player recruitment structure at West Ham needed ripping up from top to bottom.
That’s why Kyle Macaulay was brought in and Tim Steidten was moved on.
The Hammers have attempted two major squad rebuilds over the last three years, with 17 new players being signed in total.
However, West Ham require yet another squad revamp this summer. This time though, the players signed need to be young and hungry, with a real point to prove.
The good news is that Graham Potter wants to add more dynamism and youth to his West Ham ranks in the summer window.
And with multiple new arrivals on the horizon, there will be plenty of exits from the London Stadium as well.
Fan favourite Andy Irving will leave West Ham this summer
Hammers midfielder Andy Irving moved to the London Stadium from from SK Austria Klagenfurt on transfer deadline day in the summer of 2023, and was then immediately loaned back to the Austrian club.
However, he returned to the London Stadium in the summer of 2024, and remained beyond the end of the window, much to everyone’s surprise.
The 24-year-old is a hard-working player, with a really impressive attitude, and he is adored by the Hammers fans.
Andy Irving is the last West Ham player to leave training every single day, and he is clearly giving his all to make an impact for Potter’s side.
He’s been given 162 minutes of Premier League action this season (Transfermarkt) – probably more than he expected.
However, The Athletic claim that Irving is all set to leave the London Stadium this summer.
That’s because he’s not guaranteed playing time under Potter. However, moving him on should be a decision made purely because he’s not good enough to play Premier League football, let’s face it.
He doesn’t progress the football anywhere near enough and he’s nothing more than a solid Championship player in my opinion.
What Jarrod Bowen has said about Andy Irving
Hammers skipper Jarrod Bowen spoke recently about his teammate.
Somewhat surprisingly, Bowen suggested that Andy Irving does have a future with West Ham:
“Andy’s worked incredibly hard and been incredibly patient,” he said. “I get on really well with Andy. I’ve had a lot of chats with him and always told him that I know his time will come because I’ve seen it in training. He looked comfortable. He looked at home with it and I know there will be many more (appearances) for Andy.”
Personally, I just think Bowen was just being supportive of his West Ham teammate Andy Irving.
Does the Hammers skipper really think the Scot has what it takes at the very highest level? I highly doubt it.
