Paul Merson predicts Newcastle vs Brentford as he rains on the Magpies’ parade with fresh Alexander Isak rant

Paul Merson has turned a Newcastle United vs Brentford prediction into a claim about Arsenal for next season.
The Carabao Cup winners are in action on Wednesday night, as Newcastle United finally return to Premier League action.
What On Earth Is Going On At Man City?
They face Brentford at St James’ Park, as the Magpies set about finishing the season strongly and building on their Carabao Cup success.
Eddie Howe’s players must refocus ahead of the final 10 games of the season, starting against Brentford.
Paul Merson thinks Newcastle will be able to do exactly that, with the former Arsenal attacker telling Sportskeeda that the Magpies will beat Brentford on Wednesday night.
The 57-year-old then made another prediction, as he once again begged for Alexander Isak to leave St James’ Park and become an Arsenal player.

“For Newcastle, this game comes after an incredible achievement,” he said.
“They must switch back on quickly though. It was amazing to win the cup, but they need to get into the top four and return to the Champions League next season!
“This isn’t the time to relax and Brentford are not easy opponents. At first, Brentford were incredible at home and now they are outstanding on the road. So this is far from an easy game for Newcastle.
“I can’t see Newcastle keeping hold of Alexander Isak next season if I’m being honest. I know it sounds unfair but still. I think Arsenal need to sign Isak. If they can get him, Arsenal win the league by 10 points next season! I’m not kidding, I can actually see Arsenal winning the league comfortably if they sign Isak.
“I expect Liverpool to lose some key players this summer and that will severely weaken them. This is the chance for Arsenal to bring in a quality player like Isak and end that Premier League title drought.
“Big game coming up for Newcastle and I expect them to win here.”
Merson’s prediction: Newcastle United 2 Brentford 0
Paul Merson is unlikely to get his Alexander Isak wish
It feels as if every time Merson predicts a Newcastle United game he talks about Isak leaving.
However, it is surely only out of hope – or even desperation.
That is what it reeks of, despite Merson claiming that Arsenal would win the Premier League with ease if they had Isak. Newcastle United fans would probably argue the same about their side if Bukayo Saka was a Toon player.
But the reality is that Newcastle do not want to sell Isak. Their plan is to retain his services, with Newcastle eager to extend Isak’s contract.
All the while, Arsenal are looking at more realistic targets than Isak. They are interested in his fellow Swede Viktor Gyokeres, with Isak expected to cost too much money.
That is the problem that any suitor is going to encounter this summer, despite pretty much every club in the world wishing they had Alexander Isak leading the line.
