The salaries of every club show just that – with serious money being paid across the board to players from Manchester City, all the way down to Ipswich Town.
The old age debate over whether footballers are over-paid will stand the test of time. Following the boom of football in the Middle East, there is every reason to think that the free-spending nature of the beautiful game has somewhat got out of hand. It’s now almost unfathomable to learn how much money footballers are genuinely earning over a set period.

To come up with the names for every team, however, we’ve solely looked at their base salary – just to make things that much simpler. Let’s have a look then and, via Capology, identify the highest-paid player for every team in, arguably the hardest division in world football: the Premier League. Some make a lot of sense and are certainly worthy of their outrageous wages, while others are quite eyebrow-raising, to say the least.

Bournemouth – Evanilson

Operating on a significantly lower budget than many of the other sides in the English top tier, it should come as no surprise to see Andoni Iraola-led Bournemouth are one of just four clubs in the Premier League whose top earner is making less than £100,000-a-week.
New boy Evanilson arrived at the Vitality Stadium in the summer and is the Cherries’ highest-paid player, earning £85,000 on a weekly basis. Viewed as a bit of a coup for the club, it’s understandable he’s being paid more than anyone else in the side. He might be Brentford’s biggest salary outlay, but Hickey’s £70,000-a-week is the lowest total of any of the highest earners from every club in the Premier League this season. After Ivan Toney departed the club in the summer, many tipped Frank’s men to struggle this campaign – but they’ve fared well, no thanks to Hickey. With how little they’ve been able to rely on him lately, there’s no doubt that James’ contract will go down as a huge misinvestment and it wouldn’t be too surprising to see Chelsea try and move on from the Englishman in the future. Crystal Palace lost Michael Olise this summer with the talented youngster joining Bayern Munich for around £50 million and one of the players they brought in to replace him was Daichi Kamada. The highest earner we’ve come across so far, and for good reason, Mohamed Salah earns an eye-watering £350,000 a week at Liverpool – though he is, interestingly, still just the fourth-highest-paid African in world football. The Egyptian has earned every bit of it over the years, though, and his performances for the club have been vital to their success.
Salah is one of the Reds’ greatest-ever players and even his worst seasons are generally better than most, so his status as the top earner at Liverpool feels right. Even if £350,000 a week is an absurd amount of money. The third-highest earner in the entirety of England’s top flight, the wide man has piqued the interest of the ever-growing riches of Saudi Arabia and, therefore, may not be on the Merseysiders’ books beyond the 2025 summer transfer window.
