While Newcastle United were celebrating their historic Carabao Cup victory only a few days ago, Howe was keen to ensure a lid was left on proceedings.
His team, of course, still have a job to do this season. Newcastle beat Brentford 2-1 on Wednesday to ensure they remain in the driving seat to finish at least fifth in the Premier League, given they boast a game in hand on most of their rivals for the Champions League qualification spots.
Indeed, Howe banned Newcastle players from drinking alcohol at the Carabao Cup celebrations, no doubt keen to ensure that the squad remain fully focused on the final few games of the season.
Interestingly, and while there is no suggestion young loanee Travis Hernes was indulging in that kind of behaviour while on loan at Aalborg, the Danish club appear to be unhappy with an ill-advised visit to a nightclub.
In March, a statement released on Aalborg’s official website read: “It was a case of poor judgment on our part, because we should of course have gone home when the event at the restaurant ended, and we have also apologized to both the staff and our teammates, and we would also like to apologize to the fans and everyone else who has an association with AaB.
“We can guarantee that it will not happen again, and now we just want to continue the hard work on the training pitch, so that together we can get some victories on the pitch. Aalborg has welcomed us all well, and we feel at home here, and it means a lot to us to play for AaB, so we must also live up to the standards that the club expects of us.”
Now, as per The Daily Mail, the trio are now facing discipline by the club.
Who is Newcastle United youngster Travis Hernes?
The teenager is a Norwegian central midfielder, who has played for his country at various youth levels.
Hernes signed for Newcastle from Shrewsbury Town in 2023, though he is yet to make his first-team debut.
Still, former Under-19s coach Ben Dawson has confirmed Newcastle are excited about the potential of Hernes, albeit the idea of breaking into Howe’s first-team anytime soon seems somewhat remote.
Hernes has trained with the Newcastle first-team but the fact he was sent out on loan surely suggests the club do not feel he is ready just yet.
