Newcastle United are leading the race to sign Crystal Palace star Eberechi Eze this summer with Eddie Howe pushing for his arrival, according to Sky Sports journalist Sacha Tavolieri.
The Magpies are in the market to bolster their squad this summer having ended a 70-year trophy drought by defeating Liverpool in the Carabao Cup final last month, while they are also pushing to secure Champions League football for next season too.
Howe has identified the attacking midfield area as somewhere he wants to strengthen, and the Eagles sensation has emerged as the club’s top target.

PIF ready to pay £60m
Eberechi Eze
Eze has a £60m release clause at Selhurst Park that will become active in the summer window, with GIVEMESPORT sources reporting that it is ‘complicated’ to trigger.
But Newcastle owners PIF are reportedly ready to pay the necessary amount to bring him to Tyneside, with manager Howe looking to make him apart of his midfield options going forward.
Italy international Sandro Tonali is reportedly ready to leave the club and move on from St James’ Park, and Howe believes that Eze’s ability in the middle of the pitch could help him fulfil his potential while also filling the gap Tonali’s exit could leave.

Eze, who has been described as a “superstar”, also has interest from Arsenal and fellow Premier League clubs Tottenham and Manchester United, but it’s the Magpies who are said to be leading the race as things stand although no talks have been held currently.
PSR concerns however mean that they must first sell someone to fund the deal, despite PIF’s unlimited wealth, and that has been made clear to Eze and his representatives.
Howe is also said to be targeting a new central defender this summer amid injury concerns over Jamaal Lascelles and Sven Botman, with Liverpool star Jarrell Quansah among the top targets alongside Eze’s Crystal Palace teammate Marc Guehi.
