Aston Villa won 2-1 at home to Nottingham Forest on Saturday night. Morgan Rogers and Donyell Malen got their goals against the Reds. Unai Emery’s side are sat in 6th place in the Premier League table.
They have their sights set on getting into the top four again like last season. The Midlands outfit have seven fixtures left to play. Next up is their first leg of their Champions League tie against PSG before an away trip to Southampton in the league next weekend.
Aston Villa links to Noni Madueke latest
Aston Villa target Noni Madueke is ‘open’ to leaving Chelsea this summer for a new challenge, according to Football Insider. The winger isn’t a regular starter for the Blues and faces competition to get into their starting XI. They have a big decision to make regarding his long-term future at Stamford Bridge ahead of the next transfer window.
Madueke, 23, could be seen by Villa as someone to boost their attacking ranks. He would give them another option to pick from on the wing if they managed to snap him up. The England international, who has five caps to his name, as been with his current club since joining them in 2023.
Prior to his transfer to Chelsea, the former Crystal Palace and Tottenham Hotspur academy man caught the eye at PSV. He was a hit during his time in Holland and scored 20 goals in 80 games. That form earned him a switch to the Blues and he has since found the net on 17 occasions in 75 outings for the London club, eight of which have come this term under the guidance of Enzo Maresca.
Unai Emery reaction to Aston Villa win over Nottingham Forest
Aston Villa made it 17 home games unbeaten by seeing off Nottingham Forest. They have been in fine form and are carrying some serious momentum behind them. Speaking afterwards, Emery said: “I’m very happy because here in Villa Park we are feeling very strong. We are transmitting our energy to the supporters and their energy is transmitting to us. We are, more or less, winning, responding well. The supporters are happy with how we are responding and getting challenges like today against Nottingham, who are having a fantastic season.
“We’re trying to keep going in the challenges we have: today, next Wednesday, then again in Premier League, the FA Cup semi-final in London. Now is the moment we have to try to be together with our supporters and try to push everybody, transmitting our energy. Transmitting as well our wishes and how excited we are. This is the most important thing in football: try to get emotions and share emotions with our supporters.”
He added: “Momentum is fantastic. We are very focused on each match, very focused on how we can improve and how we can get better. We were winning today but in the second half we have some work to do to improve some things tactically and individually, getting more confidence.”
