Newcastle United player ratings as star nets perfect score as Magpies breeze past Leicester City

Newcastle United strolled to a comfortable win at the King Power Stadium as Tino Livramento excelled at left-back. The former Chelsea youngster dictated play down the left and was the key figure as Newcastle grabbed the lead.

The Magpies charged into an early commanding position on two minutes after Livramento crossed from the left for Jacob Murphy to apply the finish at the back post. It was 2-0 on 11 minutes when Fabian Schar cracked the bar from his own half before Murphy followed up to tap home from close range.

Harvey Barnes started and finished a move to make it 3-0 as he broke from deep before working the ball to Alexander Isak. Isak’s effort fell to Joelinton who forced a save from Mads Hermansen with the ex-Leicester man slotting in from the six-yard box.

Here’s how the Magpies rated overall:

Nick Pope 8

On hand to make some important saves

Kieran Trippier 8

Orchestrated things calmly from the back without being flustered. Just what Newcastle need in the run-in.

Fabian Schar 8

Looked unflappable but what if THAT shot had have gone in?

Dan Burn 8

A towering presence as he won it all and showed international quality.

Tino Livramento 10

As close to perfect as you’ll get for a left-back. They glided down the flank, creating the opener and leaving Leicester on the back foot.

Joelinton 8

Some sharp tackles and helped force the third goal.

Bruno Guimaraes 8

An industrious 65 minute spell with five tackles before taking a breather with Sunday in mind.

Sandro Tonali 8

An efficient display in the engine room as he sprayed the play.

Harvey Barnes 8

Caused plenty of problems and showed respect when not celebrating. Should stay in team on merit.

Jacob Murphy 9

Dipped slightly in the second half after the euphoria of two goals in the first 11 minutes.

Alexander Isak 7

Could be feeling effects of the groin. A decent enough display.
