Everton are facing having to stump up £15million if Carlos Alcaraz starts four more games in their remaining 11 Premier League fixtures.
Alcaraz arrived on loan from Flamengo in the winter transfer window, with Everton agreeing to make the deal permanent if he features in at least six games as a starter or plays at least 45 minutes.
The Argentinian has made five appearances across all competitions for the Goodison Park outfit so far, but has met the said criteria only on two occasions.
Former Flamengo vice president hits out at Everton agreement
After Alcaraz played the full 90 minutes in Everton’s 1-1 draw against Brentford on Wednesday (26 February), GE Globo published a report, stating that the 22-year-old has reached 30 per cent of the target that will see Flamengo earn £15m plus another £3m in potential add-ons.

Reacting to the report, Marcos Braz suggested that the Serie A club are gullible to think the former Southampton ace will reach the required target on Merseyside, although he added that the Toffees will exercise their option to buy him anyway.
“Haven’t they realized? He hasn’t, and won’t, reach the target”, the former Flamengo vice president wrote on X (28 February).
“The English club will exercise the purchase anyway. That’s already the case.”
However, Braz added that Everton will get away with paying a significantly lower fee.
He wrote: “It will not yield Flamengo anywhere near the value stated in the article.”

Alcaraz, a fine addition at Goodison Park
Alcaraz was Everton’s only signing in the winter transfer window, with David Moyes opting not to exhaust the limited resources the club have.
However, the midfielder has been a fine addition to the Merseyside-based club as grabbed a goal and an assist to beat Crystal Palace 2-1 in his first start for them on 15 February.
Although he has only featured five times, it seems he would be a great option to have going forward.
Therefore, it would not be a surprise if the Goodison Park outfit struck a deal with Flamengo even if he does not react the required target.
Everton could also try and negotiate a lower fee ahead of the summer, as Braz suggested.
Meanwhile, Alcaraz will be focused on helping Moyes’ side get back to winning ways when they face Wolves at the Molineux Stadium on 8 March.
