Man City targeting Premier League star as Kevin De Bruyne replacement as David Ornstein drops huge bombshell

Manchester City have a Premier League star on their radar.

Manchester City are eyeing a Premier League star as a replacement for Kevin De Bruyne as Pep Guardiola has already made his feelings clear on the transfer target.

De Bruyne, 33, will leave Man City when his contract expires at the end of the season.

He has won 16 trophies since joining from Wolfsburg for £55 million in 2015, including six Premier League titles and the Champions League in their treble-winning campaign in 2023.

The Belgium midfielder has made over 400 appearances for the club in his 10 trophy-laden seasons at the Etihad.

Pep Guardiola and Man City will be tasked with replacing De Bruyne when the transfer window reopens this summer.

And David Ornstein has dropped a huge bombshell regarding Man City’s pursuit for their De Bruyne replacement, naming a player who is on their radar.

Man City target Premier League star as Kevin De Bruyne replacement

Man City have a ‘huge’ rebuild on their hands to replace De Bruyne.

That’s according to journalist Ornstein, who claims Morgan Rogers is among the names on their radar.

“Manchester City are embarking on a huge rebuild now and it will be without their talismanic player and that’s why the focus of their recruitment will probably center on that position, the number 10,” he said on NBC Sports.

“The likes of Morgan Gibbs-White in the Premier League will be among the names on their radar.

“So too Florian Wirtz if you look across the continent and Bayer Leverkusen.”

Gibbs-White came through Wolves’ youth academy before breaking into their first-team. He enjoyed loan spells away from the club before securing a £25 million move to Nottingham Forest, where he has shone this season.

What has Pep Guardiola said about Morgan Rogers

Before Man City played Forest this season, Guardiola was asked about Rogers.

And he delivered a glowing review, calling the 25-year-old an ‘exceptional’ player.

“Morgan Rogers, Anthony Elanga are exceptional players,” he said. “Ola Aina is an exceptional player. He can play on both sides. Elliot Anderson is physical and a top player as well.”
