Newcastle United’s travelling fans witnessed Eddie Howe’s side put Leicester City to the sword with a comfortable 3-0 win on Monday.
Jacob Murphy’s brace inside 11 minutes set the Magpies on their way to three points against a Leicester side looking set to follow Southampton to the Championship, losing their eighth home game in a row.
Harvey Barnes also netted against his former club to make it three victories on the spin for Newcastle, sending them above Aston Villa and Manchester City to fifth in the Premier League table after 31 games.
It’s a result which puts Newcastle in the driving seat in the race for Champions League football, while also leaving Ruud van Nistelrooy and Leicester teetering on the precipice of relegation once again.

Shearer reacts to Dan Burn message after Newcastle win
Newcastle are scoring goals for fun at the moment – with Murphy netting his sixth and seventh of the season after 23 Premier League starts on the right flank – but they’re also rock-solid in defence.
Monday’s shutout at the King Power Stadium saw the Magpies collect a tenth clean sheet of the season, and in the continued absences of Sven Botman and Jamaal Lascelles, Dan Burn has stood tall.

The newly-capped England international is on the rise with Newcastle having scored the first goal of their EFL Cup title win last month, and the 32-year-old took to his Instagram page at full-time (7 April).
Burn’s post, which was liked by Magpies legend Alan Shearer, addressed Newcastle’s travelling fans, saying: “Class support as always”.

Burn’s form has hit new heights for the Magpies this season and has been rewarded with an England cap under Thomas Tuchel, but Champions League football next term could faciliate several new arrivals.
Newcastle have another towering centre-back in their sights to eventually succeed Burn on the left side of their defence, with Football Insider revealing last month that Dean Huijsen is top of their shortlist.
