Alan Shearer says £12m star has well and truly ‘cemented his position’ in Newcastle United’s starting XI

Alan Shearer has named two Newcastle United stars in his Team of the Week after their sensational win against Leicester City on Monday night.
The Magpies barely put a foot wrong all night as they propelled themselves up the table thanks to goals from Jacob Murphy and Harvey Barnes.
Fabian Schar nearly scored from his own half, with his effort catching Mads Hermansen out only to strike the crossbar. Murphy was first to the ball and smashed in after initially struggling to get control of it.
Newcastle United moved up to fifth with the win, level on points with fourth-placed Chelsea and just four points away from Nottingham Forest, who were beaten by Aston Villa over the weekend.
On his return to the King Power Stadium, Harvey Barnes was applauded by Leicester fans. Even after scoring, there was a clear mutual respect between the player and the club, with Barnes giving a muted celebration for Newcastle’s third.
Newcastle continue the hunt for Champions League football, and club legend Alan Shearer has picked Murphy in his team of the week and given another star his time to shine.

Alan Shearer names Tino Livramento with Jacob Murphy in Team of the Week
Tino Livramento was sensational for Newcastle on Monday night. The 22-year-old has been filling in at left-back for the injured Lewis Hall since March, but is doing a spectacular job in the circumstances.
Livramento bagged the assist for Newcastle’s first goal less than two minutes into the game when his weak-footed cross found Murphy inside the six-yard box.
Throughout the game, Livramento looked a threat up and down the left-hand side. He was unfortunate not to have more goal contributions in the game, but still left his mark.
His performance was enough for Shearer to name him in his Premier League team of the week alongside the £12m man Murphy.
On Livramento, Shearer told the Premier League website: “Outstanding. Solid at the back and really added to Newcastle’s attacking play.”
After picking Murphy, Shearer said: “His two early goals at Leicester added to what is already a wonderful season, having cemented his position in the Newcastle team.”
Howe praised Livramento after the Leicester win, and even claimed that he sees a new partnership between him and Barnes forming, thanks to their great work together over the last few weeks.

While Livramento can be proud of his performance against Leicester, a new report shared some concerning news regarding the defender.
According to the Chronicle, Livramento limped out of the King Power Stadium, despite Howe not sharing any news of a knock or problem for him in his post-match press conference.
The report states that the full-back will be assessed in the next few days to ensure he is able to play against Manchester United on Sunday.
Elsewhere, Howe claimed Alexander Isak is fit and should be in line to play against the Red Devils on Sunday. Fans called for Isak to be subbed off when the game looked to be a foregone conclusion, but Howe kept him on the pitch until the 73rd minute before replacing him with Callum Wilson.
