Paqueta hearing adjourned until June | You’ll not believe the reason

A hugely serious FA hearing in session. High stakes with Lucas Paquetá facing a lifetime ban from the sport if found guilty of the six charges – four of spot fixing and two of obstructing the FA enquiry. A year and a half of preparation by the FA during which Paqueta has lost his dream move to Manchester City and the riches on and off the pitch which that entails.
West Ham’s record signing has suffered an – understandable – dip in form and has cut a miserable stressed figure denting all of the accusations against him and desperate to clear his name.
Three weeks was earmarked for the hearing yet still the case rumbled on with expert witnesses being called to give evidence to the three man hearing. And then – nothing. As the Dailymail reported yesterday, the hearing had inexplicably been put ‘on hold’ , with Paqueta’s career hanging in the balance.
According to White and Jordan on talksport today, (21 minutes approx) the reason for the adjournment is that the player’s own legal team cannot commit to more time at the hearing until June. You couldn’t make it up. Lucas Paquetá’s football career hangs in the balance and his own legal team cannot create time to attend the hearing until June. According to Talksport- confirmed by their senior football correspondent Alex Crook.
Incredible. Does that now jeopardise another transfer window move to Manchester City for Paquetá , if found innocent, who has to wait for the outcome before trying to breathe new life into his career? Just asking.
