When Mohammed Kudus ripped up the Premier League with West Ham during his debut season at the London Stadium, it seemed like the Hammers had secured a quite incredible bargain.
However, the Ghanaian has regressed badly this season, with just three goals and two assists to his name in 25 Premier League games.
Despite his poor form this term, West Ham forward Mohammed Kudus is still being linked with a move out to Saudi Arabia in the summer.
The thing is, the Hammers need a big squad rebuild this summer, with Graham Potter said to be keen to add more youth and dynamism to his ranks.
So West Ham may well have to sell Kudus this summer, even if they don’t receive bids worth his full release clause.
If the Hammers fans are really being honest with themselves, they probably would have expected the 24-year-old to be more of a game-changer.

The Hammers attacker put in a much-improved performance for the Hammers on Saturday against Bournemouth.
However, he’s still a long way off the levels he should be producing.
You wouldn’t think that though, judging by what the Hammers official account has just posted on social media platform X.
During the Hammers’ 2-2 draw with Bournemouth on Saturday, Kudus made a really simple pass more exciting by back heeling it to his teammate Jean-Clair Todibo with his trail foot.
And the official West Ham X account went slightly overboard with their praise for the Ghanaian:
Sure, football is about entertainment. However, that from Kudus was not only unnecessary, but it was also not that impressive.
The fact that the Hammers’ official X account praised the 24-year-old for doing that proves that West Ham fans have had little to shout about this season.
And it sums up their season in a way.
It would be nice to see Kudus start to have more influence for West Ham when it actually matters inside the final third.
Why Mohammed Kudus could be affected by new Premier League change
The Ghana international has a very particular style of play.
He often hangs on the shoulder of the last defender, looking to get in behind and through on goal.
Only five players have been caught offside more than him in the Premier League this season.
However, that could all change for Kudus when the Premier League bring in new semi-automated offside technology this weekend for Manchester City’s clash with Crystal Palace.
West Ham forward Mohammed Kudus could be helped out or hindered by the new automated offside system – only time will tell in that regard.
