Stiliyan Junior has announced he is standing as Reform UK‘s candidate for Warwickshire County Council in the Lapworth and West Kenilworth ward.

It’s come as a shock to Celtic fans to see one of their heroes’ son stand for a right-wing party, given the Hoops’ fanbase is largely left-leaning.

Reform’s strong anti-immigration views have also caused confusion, given that Stiliyan Junior’s dad left Bulgaria to spend most of his professional career playing in Scotland with Celtic and England for Aston Villa.

Celts supporters took to X, formerly Twitter, to bash both Petrov Junior for his decision and Petrov Senior for allowing it.
