‘West Ham turn attention to signing Tammy Abraham after transfer mission’
West Ham are considering a move to sign Roma striker Tammy Abraham when the transfer window opens, according to their former senior scout.
Mick Brown, who also worked for the likes of Man United and Aston Villa and remains very well-connected at his former clubs, exclusively told Football Insider that the 27-year-old is the type of forward Graham Potter wants to add to his side.
The Hammers have had scouts keeping an eye on his performances on loan at AC Milan and have now joined a number of Premier League sides interested in him.
The performances of Niclas Fullkrug and Evan Ferguson have left them in need of a new forward, with the Roma man’s awkward style making him a key target.
Football Insider first revealed in March that West Ham are interested in signing Abraham, who has been a long-term target at the London Stadium.
Meanwhile, Brown told Football Insider on 4 March that Abraham is keen to return to England amid interest from Leeds, and a cut-price deal could be on the cards.

Brown told Football Insider on 14 March that West Ham will race Leeds to sign Abraham this summer as he edges closer to a return to the Premier League.
The former scout, who has a wealth of experience in top-level player recruitment after over a decade at Man United during their most successful period, has insisted that the forward’s experience in Italy would provide a boost for the Hammers.
“We worked hard to take him on loan when I was at Villa,” he told Football Insider.
“He scored 26 goals that season and was instrumental in getting us promoted.
“I’m aware that was a while ago now, but he then stepped up to Chelsea and has spent a few years now playing over in Italy.
“He’s not the perfect article in terms of his control of the ball, but he’s a pain in the neck for defenders.
“He’s prepared to run into the channels, get in behind, hold the ball up, win flick-ons, and in general be a nuisance to the opposition.
“Sometimes he might not the the tidiest player, but he’s effective, and that’s what West Ham want.
“I don’t think playing in Italy has changed much for him technically, but he’s now got that experience playing regularly at a high level.
“There are a few Premier League clubs prepared to give him another chance in England.
“West Ham have been watching him over there so they know what he’ll bring to the table.
“At West Ham, he’s the type of forward they want because Fullkrug has had his issues and Evan Ferguson won’t stay because he hasn’t made an impact.
“So Abraham is in that same sort of mould and he’s one they’ve been looking at.”

Graham Potter eyes Angels Gomes swoop after offer tabled
Another key target for Potter this summer is the addition of a new central midfielder, amid links with a move to sign Lille’s Angel Gomes.
Football Insider revealed on 23 May that West Ham have tabled an offer for Gomes despite having seen more than one offer already rejected by the England international.
Instead, his future is believed to be an “open race” with a number of clubs across Europe keen to lure him in on a free transfer when his contract expires.
This comes after Football Insider revealed on 28 March that Tottenham are leading the race to sign Gomes and have been joined by clubs in France, Spain and Germany.
