Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe ILLNESS

Eddie Howe
Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe will not take charge of the club’s Premier League match on Sunday against Manchester United due to illness. The Englishman has been struggling for several days with an undisclosed illness and was admitted to the hospital on Friday night as a result.

The two sides will meet at St. James’ Park on Sunday afternoon, with the Magpies chasing Champions League football, while United are trying to find some form under Ruben Amorim. The League Cup winners will be without their beloved boss, though, who guided them to their first piece of silverware in decades as he deals with his illness.

Newcastle Have Released a Statement On Eddie Howe’s Absence
They have promised further updates

Newcastle fans will of course be worried about their manager and will want information on his absence. The club themselves have now released a statement on social media addressing the situation and they said the following:

“Eddie Howe will miss tomorrow’s game against Manchester United due to illness. The Magpies’ head coach was admitted to hospital late on Friday evening having felt unwell for a number of days. Everyone at Newcastle United extends their best wishes to Eddie for a speedy recovery, and further updates will follow in due course.”

Howe took over at the club in 2021 and has been an instant hit with them. He replaced Steve Bruce after Newcastle were taken over and has played a significant role in their rise up the Premier League. He’s given them Champions League football and silverware, something they couldn’t even imagine just a few years ago. The likes of Kieran Trippier, Bruno Guimaraes and Alexander Isak were all brought into Newcastle after their takeover and they’ve been influential to their success over the last four years.

It’s hard to imagine the club would have reached the heights they have without Howe, though. He’s taken charge of 165 matches as Newcastle manager so far, winning 87 of them. Hopefully the coach will be fit, healthy and able to return to his post as manager in the near future, so he can add to his record.
