Andre Onana dropped from Manchester United squad for trip to Newcastle

Andre Onana has been dropped from the Manchester United squad travelling to face Newcastle on Sunday, talkSPORT understands.
The £47million man has been left out of Ruben Amorim’s squad after he was culpable for both goals against Lyon in Thursday’s 2-2 draw in the Europa League.

Altay Bayindir is expected to start in his place and make his Premier League debut.
Onana’s status in Amorim’s team has become increasingly precarious following a string of blunders in the Man United goal.
Since the start of last season, he has made eight errors that have directly led to goals. No other Premier League goalkeeper has made more in that time.
As a result, the Red Devils are expected to move on from the 29-year-old in the summer.

talkSPORT understands United have stepped up their scouting of Parma goalkeeper Zion Suzuki, who is rated at around £40m.
Despite Onana being dropped from the United squad, Amorim had given him the vote of confidence following the Europa League match on Thursday.
The Red Devils boss said: “If you look at the season I’ve made more mistakes than them during these last games and during these last months.
“There’s nothing I can say to Andre in this moment that will help him, so the most important thing is to be natural and then when the time comes I will choose the best XI to play. But I’m really confident in Andre.”
As well as recent errors on the pitch, he has had difficulties off it in recent days and weeks.
His wife was the victim of a violent street robbery in late March, where a Hermes bag and Rolex watch were stolen.

The incident has left the family needing 24-hour protection.
The Cameroon international was also involved in a spat with Nemanja Matic.
The former United, and current Lyon, midfielder branded him as ‘one of the worst ‘keepers in United’s history’.
Onana hit back by pointing out that he had won trophies at United, the FA Cup, while Matic failed to do so in his five years at the club.
In response, the goalkeeper failed to prove his rival wrong by making errors that directly led to two goals.
