Forrest has enjoyed a glittering six years at Celtic with Greg Taylor as his teammate and shares how the Hoops dressing room feels about him extending his stay.
Forrest told the Daily Record [print edition page 37], “It’s a personal decision, but in the time he’s been here Greg has been unreal.
“When he first came in, he maybe wasn’t in the team but he’s played near enough every game for the last three and a half, four seasons. So it’s credit to him.
“It’s up to him at the end of the day. I think everyone within the club, we know how much influence he has in the changing room and on the training pitch every day.
“So we’d all be desperate for him to stay. Everyone knows that KT’s coming back as well, so he might be thinking about that.
“I’ve seen it before. At this type of club, you’re always signing players. There’s always going to be competition for places and it feels as though some people can thrive off that as well.
“It’s a personal decision for Greg and everyone close to him, it’s up to him what he does.”
James Forrest’s empathy for Celtic teammate Taylor over Kieran Tierney dilemma
Forrest is the traditional one-club man at Celtic. He has spent every second of his career at Paradise, but he does share some empathy for his Hoops teammate’s dilemma.
Forrest continued, “He can still play games [when Tierney returns], but I’m not in Greg’s situation. I don’t know maybe what he’s got, if he’s got other teams or if he’s got personal ambition somewhere else.
“I’m not sure, but as I said if he does sign here, then we’ll all be delighted because we know what we’ve got as a player.”
After Taylor’s Celtic performance vs Kilmarnock, the fullback has shown that he still has plenty to offer the club.
With fan opinion split, however, if Taylor does decide to leave Celtic, he will go with the Hoops supporters’ best wishes after helping the club win four league titles, three Scottish Cups and three league cups during his time at the club.
