Jason Tindall issues update on Eddie Howe’s health after hospitalisation

Jason Tindall has provided an update on Eddie Howe’s condition after the Newcastle United head coach was hospitalised on Friday night and forced to miss Sunday’s 4–1 win over Manchester United.
Tindall provided an update on Howe’s status while speaking to Sky Sports ahead of the game at St James’ Park on Sunday.
“He’s not been well this week and he was admitted to hospital on Friday evening,” Tindall said. “Everyone wishes him the best and I’m sure he will be back with us soon.”
Howe was absent from training and team preparations for most of the week, with Tindall stepping in for Friday’s pre-match press conference. On Sunday, Tindall and Graeme Jones managed the team from the touchline.
“When you’ve been ill all week it’s difficult to have the input you would normally have,” Tindall said. “The players know the expectations so it’s important they go out and deliver a performance the manager would be proud of.”
Howe, 47, was described by the club on Saturday as “conscious and talking with his family” while undergoing further medical tests. No timeline has yet been set for his return.
A club statement added: “Everyone at Newcastle United extends their best wishes to Eddie for a speedy recovery, and further updates will follow in due course.”
Howe has led Newcastle to a Carabao Cup triumph and has the team pushing for European qualification. Sunday’s win over Manchester United keeps the Magpies truly in the mix for a top-five finish.
