Richard Gordon’s ‘brutally honest’ Celtic vs Aberdeen Scottish Cup prediction
BBC presenter, Richard Gordon, was looking back at Celtic’s win over St Johnstone and as he listed the club’s successes over the last two decades, he sounded really worried about Aberdeen’s chances in the final in May.
Gordon told BBC Radio Sportsound, “If you take that they will win the league this year. And that’s just a case of just just finalising things there.
“Go from the Scottish Cup final that they won in 2011 there have been 42 major domestic trophies settled and Celtic have picked up 29 of those.”
When asked about how he felt about Aberdeen’s chances against Celtic, Gordon replied, “I wouldn’t at all be surprised to see a repeat of the scoreline we have just witnessed. I’m just being brutally honest in that respect.
“I mean, Celtic can do that, and they’ve done it. They’ve done it consistently. They’ve won every league, bar one since 2011/12.
“I mean, not quite so dominant in the cups. But they’ve picked up more than their fair share of those. And when you think that they’ve won 29, the next most successful teams during those 14 years are Rangers and St Johnstone with three trophies.”

Celtic have been utterly dominant in all domestic competitions over pretty much every team in Scotland for decades now.
However, against Aberdeen in the Scottish Cup, Celtic’s record may well surprise supporters as the Parkhead club has not been as dominant over the Pittodrie side as many may think.

From those fixtures, Aberdeen have won two finals comapred to Celtic’s one, However, the Parkhed club have won the last four Hampden meetings winning three semi-finals and, of course, the Invincibles final in 2017.
Whilst Celtic will be heavy favourites, Brendan Rodgers and the fans will take nothing for granted when the final comes around next month.
The 24-year-old hasn’t been able to cement a regular starting place, whether Kyogo Furuhashi has been at the club and then left, or Daizen Maeda is causing havoc up top.
Over the weekend, Idah netted a much-needed goal and helped Celtic reach the Scottish Cup final by seeing off St Johnstone at Hampden.
But, in the build-up to the match, the headlines around Idah were negative after he had a night out, just like any young person in the world, including claims that he was ‘sick inside a taxi’.
Thankfully, the 24-year-old did his talking on the field of play, by putting the ball in the back of the net, with Rodgers also defending Idah’s actions.
