The consistency of the team has largely been down to a settled squad. Nuno Espirito Santo has sorted out most of the defensive issues from last season and that has allowed the team to win far more games during the course of the campaign.
One player who has been in fine form across the campaign is defender Ola Aina, with the player very capable whether he’s asked to play as a right-back or a left-back by the Forest head coach.
Aina is currently injured but has earned some praise from arguably one of the best full-backs to ever play in the Premier League, with Kyle Walker admitting he’s a huge fan of the Forest man.
Kyle Walker praises brilliant Forest star Ola Aina
Walker surprisingly went to play for AC Milan in January and he’s now helping them on their own charge towards European football at the back end of the 2024/25 campaign.
The player was asked about Aina on the latest episode of The Kyle Walker Podcast and it’s fair to say that he’s a very big fan of the Forest man who plays in the same position as he does.
Walker said: “Yeah, Aina has been incredible, he plays left and right-back. He’s so quick. I was impressed with him a couple of years back when I played against him, just his calmness on the ball and how he defended the one-on-one situations.
“Obviously he’s got injured now and hopefully that’s not too bad but he would definitely get my vote for either left or right-back in the team of the season.”
Manchester City want Ola Aina
Perhaps indirectly, Walker has suggested by praising Aina that he won’t be going back to Manchester City any time soon, with the FA Cup semi-finalists actually keen to sign Aina this summer.
There has been a lot of discussion over the player’s contract situation, with it being believed that Aina has another one-year option held by the club that will surely be activated at some point.
Forest can’t lose the 28-year-old any time soon and it’s absolutely imperative that the club get him tied to a new deal with European football set to be on the agenda at the City Ground next season.
