THIS afternoon’s big match at Tannadice was halted for almost three minutes after Hoops fans threw TANGERINES onto the pitch in a shock protest.

The game was paused for around two-and-a-half minutes in the early stages following the bizarre incidents.

The protest was accompanied with a banner from Celtic fans which read: “enjoy the fruits of our labour”.

It’s believed the protest was response to Dundee United‘s high ticket prices for today’s title decider.

Celtic fans were charged £42 a ticket to attend the game, which will result in a title party if their team avoids defeat.

Should the Hoops win or draw then their title defence and four-in-a-row will be made official.

Brendan Rodgers wasn’t impressed with the protest as he could be seen shaking his head while the fruit was launched onto the turf.

The manager was clearly unhappy as the protest killed the momentum in the game for a brief spell.

Players gathered around the Celtic penalty box to remove the fruit, with Viljami Sinisalo, Cameron Carter-Vickers, Reo Hatate, Alistair Johnston and skipper Callum McGregor all seen getting involved in the clean up job.

Members of Dundee United staff entered the field of play to speed up the process too,

Daizen Maeda had another way of getting rid of the mess as he was seen EATING one of tangerines which were launched.
